Merrick's POV
After I took that woman and locked her in her room, I hung around the outside of her door to make sure she didn't do anything stupid... Guess she's not that bright... Because she did.
Her growling words came out pretty clear. "I will be Luna, Hunter... Mark my words."
If anything that's exactly what I would do. I would mark her words. They were a threat, not only towards Hunter but towards our pack. This one is going to cause unnecessary problems. Ones I would have to address with Hunter and the guys. It was a woman like this that almost cost me my mate and I wasn't going to let that happen again.
Ryder was chatting with everyone comfortably when I got back down stairs. Ryder looked up at me from where he sat and asked me if everything was fine. I guess he picked up on the worry I was carrying on my face, but now wasn't the time, so I just nodded and headed to the couch to where Dakota was sitting and I let her wrap her arms around me. I would wait until Hunter came back.
The coffee flowed for a little while longer before, one by one, sleep was getting the better of everyone and they headed to their rooms.
Dakota got up from the couch. "You coming Love?" She says. I look at her and place my hands and head up against her belly to hear my pup's heart beat.
"I'll wait for Hunter." I said as I place a kiss on her bump and rose to kiss her on her lips. "I'll be there once I know he's ok." She just smiled and touched my cheek. She knew all too well that I needed to do this for my Alpha and brother. So she turned and headed off.
I went up to Hunter's room and grabbed a pair of sweat pants and went back down into the living room. I sat back down and just waited for my friend.
Dawn was just surfacing when the rugged man came in. He stopped short, noticing me sitting there. I threw him his pants.
"Thought everyone would be sleeping." He croaks out. He's not embarrassed, he shouldn't have to be.
"Not everyone my friend." Was my reply. While he slips on his sweats, I head to the kitchen to get some coffee. Sounds like he's in dire need of liquid down his gullet.
I walk back out and hand him the mug. He nods but says nothing. I go back to where I was sitting and I wait. He'll say something when he's ready. Until then, I will sit and wait.
I watched as he slowly sips his coffee holding onto the mug like it was a life line thrown to him.
He cleared his throat and looked up. "I'm sorry." He whispered.
"For what?" I encouraged him to talk. However, if he apologizes again, I'm gonna smack him.
"For losing my shit. Damn, Brooklyn just got here, she didn't need to see me like that." He takes a warmed up hand and rubs his face.
"Yes, you will need to explain to her. But to be sorry? There's no need. That woman is going to be a problem." He looks at me questioningly. Then his expression changes.
"Yeah, I figured." He rubs his face again getting lost in thought.
"I haven't seen Cass since you pulled her from training. I take it you sent her out to go look for Madison?" He looks at me with a 'how did you know look ' which made me smile.
He then smiled too and nodded knowing that out of our group of friends I have always been the most observant and never scared to call him out. "That's good, she's a strong warrior and a very good tracker. I'm actually thinking of making her my head warrior if she wants to stick around."
Hunter's face lights up with what I've just said. I can tell he's been thinking along those lines as well.
Agatha has more or less made herself comfortable at the pack hospital and made good friends with Dr Hannah.
