Hunter's POV
After lingering a little longer on Madison's lips, I slowly pull away and place my forehead against hers. My eyes closed, my chest vibrating a rhythmical hum, just soaking in all the feelings I have whirling around my body and in my head. Giving us both the chance to catch up with ourselves.
My arms still tightly wrapped around her, scared she would vanish into thin air and that this was nothing more than just a tortuous dream.
Hesitantly, I pull my face from hers and look into her now deepened eyes. In them, I watch how she tries to gather her senses and ground herself. The transformation makes me smile. Knowing I have just as much of an affect on her as she has on me.
"You thirsty?" I asked her in a quiet voice, to which she just nods her head, making the loose strands of her hair bounce slightly.
I smile at her and take her by the hand, leading her back to the table filled with our friends and family, who are chatting and laughing vibrantly.
"Awe, Maddy... Why so flushed? Did this big oaf take advantage of you?" Chuckles Michael, making Madison's blush spread like wild fire all the way to her ears. Michael then flinched at a slap at the back of his head and a stern, yet playful "Watchya mouth boy" from Agatha. Which made everyone laugh loudly. Madison definitely had a protector, which was Agatha.
We all sat around the table chatting freely. Looking around again I made another mental note that I don't see either Cassandra or Merrick.
"Merrick. How are things at the border? " I mind linked my friend looking for a few answers as to his where abouts.
"All good. Came back a while back already. Saw you all nice and cozy, so I didn't want to interfere." He chuckles back in mind link.
"So where you at now?" I enquired, hoping now to find out where Cass was.
"D was feeling a bit off so we headed back to our place. Do you need anything?" He politely asks, knowing I wouldn't press anything if he was with Dakota, her being ready to give birth any day soon.
"Nah, it's cool buddy. You guys rest. And get D to Doc tomorrow for a check up." I basically order him, which he acknowledged and we ended the mind link.
I look over at our now emptying table and catch Madison's gaze. I smile and edge myself closer for her to hear me." Want to go for a walk? "
She smiles back clearly not as tired as everyone else around us and nods to my suggestion.
I jump up with enthusiasm at spending more time with her. I grab her hand and we slip away from everyone else and made our way through the house and out the front door. Hand in hand. I look down at her to see if she's still comfortable, seeing as though we were no longer around anyone else. It's just the two of us. She smiles as I lead the way away from the house.
It was still dark enough to see the bright, sparkling confetti of stars thrown across the sky. The full moon shining down on us with Selene's blessings and love, lighting just enough of the ground to be sure footed.
I found myself at ease around Madison, even if she didn't speak. So we walked in quiet comfort down to the lake.
The dream of her running around in circles laughing with utter joy chasing everything, came back to mind. I knew she would like this.
We broke through the trees to a view of the now, moonlit lake, so still that the sky was completely mirrored in it. Her face lit up with the full force of the moons light, which knocked the breath from me. She was truly beautiful. I pull her into a dance spin watching her loose, blue glowing strands flowing out around her face. I pull her closer and kiss her on her lips before I pull back and give her a playful grin before I let go of her and ran down towards the edge of the lake, dropping my clothes on the ground as I ran. When I got to the lake side, I look over my shoulder only to find her giggling into her hands. My smile widening, I asked her if she would be joining me. Oh my Goddess that blush of hers does things to me. To encourage her to follow, I dive into the water and leave her to hopefully do what I just did. When I resurface and turn to see where she was, she was just climbing ever so causiously into the water. Her back facing me. I couldn't believe what I saw. Her entire back, from legs to neck was fully tattooed. I floated there just staring at the intricate work covering the back of her. I couldn't help but admire the entire artwork which was now sinking its way into the water.
