As the sun crept higher into the sky, the light filtering into the room dimmed. Touching everything with a softer glow.
Hunter and Madison lay there in each other's arms feeling more whole then they ever had.
Revelling in each other's company and chatting freely with each other like they've known each other their whole lives. Confidently comfortable about where things were as far as each other was concerned.
A rattling at the door broke into their conversation and they unashamedly welcomed the familiar guest.
They chuckled at how easy Cassandra entered the room and made herself comfortable in Tom's chair by the bed side. She was smirking at them knowingly.
"As much as this scene pleases me." She started saying but paused ever so briefly to look at the couple cuddling in the sheets.
"We still have things to do." Her smirk grew wider making the couple chuckle at where her mind was going.
"We can leave shortly. Just give me a few minutes with Maddy." Hunter replied.
With that, Cassandra nodded and headed back out the door.
Hunter turns Madison in his arms to make her look at him. Thankfully, her confidence hadn't started to waver, and he drew his strength from that.
" I'm going to send Tom. I want the two of you keeping an eye from the outside. I don't want them catching wind of you." He says to her, revealing the plan he had discussed with the others earlier that morning. Madison agreed.
Hunter then climbed out of the bed still holding Madison tightly to him. He let her slide off of him and the two of them stood there for a moment and stared into each other's eyes. He brings his hands up and takes a few stray stand of her hair and tucks them behind her ears as he brings his lips down to hers for one last time before he leaves. "This will all be over soon." He whispers, with his lips hovering on the surface of hers.
"I'm waiting!" They hear the impatience in Cassandra's voice sounding out from the bottom of the stair case.
"Well, someone wants things to start happening." Madison says chuckling at her friend.
"I'm sure she's made a mental list of all the things she wants to do to that bitch and she's dying to start with number one. " They both laugh at what Hunter has just said.
"OK, you better go. Just now she tries number one on you." Madison says pushing him away playfully.
The bedroom door opens and in storms Cassandra.
"I suppose I can't press you to hurry up when all your clothes were down stairs with me." She says rolling her eyes and tossing their clothes onto the bed before turning on her heels and back out the door. Madison and Hunter burst out laughing.
As the door closes behind her they hear her once again." Ok. Now, I'm waiting."
Still laughing the two get dressed and head out of the bedroom to a now bouncing Cassandra clapping her hands with utter excitement.
On the way back out of the clearing and into the forest, Hunter turns to take another look at the cabin and to get one last strength boosting glimps of the mate that he was eternally grateful for not losing. She was standing just outside the front door, with her arms wrapping around her in a relaxed fashion and smiling. Smiling at him. He returned her smile and added a cheeky wink before disappearing into the woods.
Madison's POV
It wasn't as hard as all the other times, us parting ways. I guess it's because this time I know it won't be for long. Smiling, I decided I wanted to go for a run, Miakoda could use it. I head back inside and take a quick shower before heading out.
