Chapter 40

Cyreen and I finished that moment with laughters. I told her to stop crying dahil hindi bagay sa kanya. She laughed and glared at me. But I still reminded her that if things get too heavy, I can be there for her to lessen her baggages.

I know I couldn't be much of a help since her troubles are something personal and I want to respect her space but I still offered her my help. She kindly refused and said that she'll come to me if she ever badly needed one.

May natira pang pizza after that conversation so we decided to move to the living area and watched a movie. She was busy choosing a movie from Netflix when I saw a latest magazine issue on her center table.

The cover was familiar kaya agad ko itong dinampot. Nang makita nang malapitan ay nakita kong ito ang shinoot nila Carrie noong nakaraang buwan. She was there along with the other models. They really looked foreign and very gorgeous on their swimsuits. It was taken very nicely.

I flipped the page and saw many interviews from different actors and models. I smiled when I saw another picture of Carrie wearing a business attire. I continued flipping through the pages. Nagulat ako nang makita ang mukha ni Richard sa business section ng magazine na iyon.

He looked very rich and professional with the photo that was used of him. He was half smiling, with his hair laid back, wearing a blue dress shirt tucked inside his dark blue jeans, and a brown colored belt matching his brown Sperry, he really looked like a bachelor.

I read the article about his interview. It was mostly about his achievements and tips on how to become a good businessman. I was somehow amazed with the way he explained himself on the interview. I must admit that I learned a lot from reading his article.

However, what caught my interest more is when he was asked about somebody that he likes, he said he liked someone so badly before but got rejected. He didn't mention who the girl was but when he said "... well, that doesn't really matter now anymore. I admire her a lot, but I understand that all she could offer me is her friendship. And I accept that. Right now, I'm just happy to help her in running their business. She's learning so much from being a president of a hotel in Cebu and, along with her family, I support her as a good friend."

I then knew that it was Sydney he was refering to. He admitted that he likes Sydney. Ano naman kayang reaksyon ni Sydney about this?

I didn't know what to feel with what I read. Hindi ako galit sa kanya o kay Sydney. Pero hindi ko rin alam kung anong dapat na maramdaman ko. Wala akong makitang masama sa sinabi ni Richard pero parang may mali.

He likes Sydney and she told him that all they could be is friends. I don't really want to play numb. I maybe insensitive at times, but with all the things Sydney and I have shared for the past weeks, I know that she rejected him because of me.

I sighed. I don't want to overthink about it. Sydney knows what to do. I don't think she'd even let me down this time. I know that she will be honest to me. Alam ko dahil naniniwala akong natuto na kaming pareho sa mga naranasan namin noon. I trust her with this one. I just hope I'm risking on the right bet.

Gayunpamang pinapalubag ko ang loob ko, hindi ko pa rin maalis sa isip ko ang nabasa. Cyreen was even shocked with the article. She said that the magazine was only given to her by Luke since he was one of the interviewed actors at dahil na rin naroon si Carrie. She said she haven't read it yet. At alam ko ring nagsasabi siya ng totoo dahil maging siya ay nagulat sa nabasa niya.

Nang makauwi ay pinilit kong iwaglit sa isip ko ang pagkabagabag sa nabasa. But I really couldn't stop thinking about it.

What if I call Sydney? What if I ask her about it?
