Chapter 5

"Wala ka bang klase?" Seryoso kong tanong sa kanya.

She shook her head.

"Wala," sabi nito. "Mamaya pang one."

I wanted to ask her why but I'm very sleepy, so I just nodded at her at muling pinikit ang aking mga mata.

"Di ka raw sumama kagabi ah?" tanong nito sa akin.

I opened my eyes because of her question.

"Yup. Ikaw rin naman." saad ko sa medyo seryosong tono.

"Bakit, anong ginawa mo kagabi?" pang-uusisa nito.

"Nag-aral." simple kong sagot sa kanya.

"Weh? Wala pa namang exams ah?" sagot nito sa akin na may halong pagdududa.

"Bawal mag-advance study?" sagot ko rin sa kanya.

"Hmm? Totoo kaya yan?" tanong nitong muli.

I smirked and raised my eyebrows at her. "Pinagdududahan mo ko?"

She smiled at me and squinted her eyes as if she's thinking about something.

"Sakto lang." she answered.

Woah. Ayaw maniwala?

Umayos ako ng upo at hinarap siya.

"Oh sige, bakit hindi ka sumama kagabi?"

"May quiz ako kanina."

"Hmm? Totoo kaya yan?" balik ko sa kanya sa tanong niya kanina.

She laughed at me because of what I said.

"Kita mo na, ang weird diba?" natatawang sabi ko sa kanya.

"Nag-aral nga ako." sabi nito ng matapos na ang tawa niya.

"Okay, whatever." sabi ko sabay irap sa kanya.

She chuckled at my reaction, "Sungit mo." She said and I only looked at her with sarcasm.

I closed my eyes again and tried to sleep but Sydney just keeps talking to me.

"Kumain ka na?" she asked after a few few moments of silence

"Breakfast, yep." I answered without looking at her.

"Lunch?" she asked again that made me open my eyes.

"Di pa. Ikaw ba?" sagot ko sa kanya na medyo nakukulitan na dahil ang dami niyang tanong.

"Di pa din. Tara kain tayo?" she said and pulled my arm gently.

"Saan?"

"Kahit sa'n." sagot naman nito bago muli akong hinila.

Tamad na tamad akong tumayo sa upuan habang tuwang tuwa naman siyang pagmasdan akong ganon.

We walked across the streets of P. Noval to P. Campa and ate at one of the eateries there.

Masayang masaya ang aura ni Sydney ngayon. Sana lagi siyang ganyan.

"Ano oras uwi mo mamaya?" she asked.

I looked over my wristwatch to check the time and to be reminded of my schedule as well.

"3 pm." I answered. She pouted thereafter.

"Okay." sabi nito na may bahid ng panghihinayang sa boses.

"Why?" I asked.

"5:30 pa ko e." sabi nito nang hindi tumitingin sa akin.

I can sense that she really finally grew so fond of me. I smiled about it inwardly. This is the first time I felt like having a sister. Like having someone who is needy of your attention and affection.
