Working at a flower shop is fun most of the times. And I really enjoy it. But when it comes to holidays in combination with beautiful weather, you won't be able to even drink during rush hour. So naturally I wasn't very fond of going to work today. I expected more customers than usually. Great. I sighed and got on my bike. Whatever, let's make the best of it.

The amount of people surpassed even my worst nightmares today and for the first half of the day I hadn't a second for calming down again. The short lunch break I had didn't really make up for it. And after coming back, it started all over again. Before I knew it, my watch showed me that we would close in ten minutes. A sigh of relief escaped my lips. "Katy!", I heard my colleague Sarah shouting after me. I turned around: "Yeah?" "I know it already had been a though day for you... But... See... I..." An uneasy feeling came up. Please no... "I have to leave if I don't want to be late for my date... Could you... Uhm..." I sighed. I already knew what she was about to say. And I knew how important that date was to her. And she was my friend after all. "Whom should I take over?" A big grin came on her face and she hugged me tightly. "I owe you!", she said. "Oh yes, you do", I gave back and freed myself, "Now tell me before I will have to stay here over night. And you should really get ready for your date. You look... interesting." I tilted my head and smiled upon her appearance. Her hair was a whole mess and she herself was covered in dirt. Now laughing I wiped away some of it as she discreetly pointed over to a group of young men and said: "Those." I nodded and wished her good luck before we said our goodbyes.

"How can I help?", I asked my new customers a few seconds after with my best "at-work-so-I-gotta-be-polite"-smile. At least they seemed like a nice bunch of guys. And hello there... They were handsome. "We need a bunch of flowers actually...", one of them said. Obviously. That's why you're here. Supressing a sigh, I started the old question-answer-game: "Sure. Which ones?" "Well, they should be violet", the guy answered and looked at his watch, "And I see you will be closing soon. We're so sorry to be that late but we just got off from work. Should we rather come again tomorrow?" Yes. Please. But my boss wouldn't like that. And tomorrow would be full as well, so whatever. I shook my head and replied: "It's fine. I know how it is to do the last-minute-shopping after work." "Thank you so much, Miss", another one said and smiled brightly at me. Well-mannered, I liked that. "So, violet, huh? Let's see...", I said and led them over to the according tables. "Yes", the first one said again. "How many?" "About... A hundred?" My smile froze. A hundred. That is a lot. That is actually a "bunch" of flowers. "I'm so sorry!", he apologized again, realizing my state of shock. "No, it's alright. I just... Mind me asking what you need them for? A hundred is a lot." "It's for a video actually", he answered shyly. Now he got me curious. But I could sense the guys getting all shy, so I decided to not investigate further. "I see", I replied instead and smiled softly, "but we will have to order them as well, I guess. Even when mixing different ones, we don't have enough anymore this evening." "No problem, we would need them in two days. We just need to know which ones to set everything up." I nodded. Then I continued to ask questions and showed them flowers and over time I found them very likeable. Especially the one who was talking to me most of the time.

"You have a very good eye for decorating", this one said twenty minutes later while I was writing down the order. "Thanks", I said blushingly. I never thought of myself as somebody like that. "Uhm...", he continued. "Hmm?" "Would you... Like... Would you mind helping us setting them up? Not for free, of course. But I would feel better if you would be the one to help us out with it...", he said and shyly lowered his eyes. Now that was unexpected. But it sounded tempting. I actually was so curious about the video, so before thinking twice I grinned and answered: "Sure. I will have to make sure it's fine with my boss, but he should be ok. He's very nice anyways." The young man in front of me started to smile relieved and replied: "Thanks so much. Meeting someone as nice as you is really rare." I blushed again. He chuckled and I gave them the order to sign it to distract them from my flattered state. He signed, afterwards handed me over a piece of paper before leaving and said: "Call me then. And... After the video... How about getting some coffee? I don't want to waste a chance of getting to know such a lovely, beautiful and polite young woman closer." By now I must be as red as a tomato. Shyly, I nodded and mumbled a short: "That would be nice, I guess", trying to hide how flustered I was. "Cool", he said and took my hand to blow a kiss on it. Ignoring the "Oooh"s from his friends, he shooed them out and waved me goodbye. I waved back. A few more seconds after they left, I still stood in amazement of what just had happened. But as I got back to my senses, I unfolded the paper, determined to call him as soon as I got back home. Smiling I read the little message he wrote under his number: "Thank you so much. You made my evening brighter even after an exhausting day. Hope, we will meet soon. Sincerely, Kino." He had drawn a little heart next to it. Feeling the red shade creeping up my cheeks again, I smiled sheepishly and whispered: "Same, Kino. Same."
