SLEEPING THROUGH classes wasn't like Gideon at all, but she didn't go to bed until she finished her gift for Ricky.
But because she slept through half of the classes, she had essentially slept through almost half of her day.
It wasn't like she could do much regardless. None of her friends knew she was home.
She sat at her desk, brushing her hair into a half-up half-down hairstyle and dressed for the cold Salt Lake weather.
She patted her hands against the table and that's when she grew nervous.
Valentine's Day wasn't a big deal to most. Some people hated it, others enjoyed it, some didn't acknowledge the day at all.
Gideon's first Valentine's Day with a guy she liked for so long and though she already knew she was nervous about it, she thought that she would've been with her mother and not back in Salt Lake.
She held her phone in her hands as texts from Seb came rolling in. In a small group chat between them and Margo going on.
They were the two of mentioned the musical the most. Everyone else either asked her how everything was going or talked about what was going on in their own lives.
Gideon smiled at the responses from Margo and felt her phone vibrate in her hands.
Her smile dropped slightly and answered the phone call.
"How's everything?"
"Fine. I mean, a day was wasted because I did have to drive here by myself, but everything is fine."
Gideon stood from her spot, grabbing a jacket, and slipping on a random pair of shoes.
Her mother's voice truly going in one ear and out of the other. She was semi-listening but didn't process what was being said.
She hit the bottom step and was stopped by her father.
"Going to Ricky's?"
She shook her head slightly. She wanted whatever time she had left to be at home and the night with Ricky and when she would leave she would just try and be with as many people as she could.
