SALT LAKE was colder than what Gideon remembered.
The lantern she held tightly in one hand compared to the utter grip Ricky had on the other was completely different.
They were different. They both knew that. They didn't know if it was a good or bad different, but they knew something was definitely happening.
She (and Nini) had been back permanently in Salt Lake for two weeks and within those two weeks, Gideon was able to catch up on whatever Seb and Margo didn't tell her.
Though, whenever she did ask Gina if she was able to hang out, it was always, "I'm working on the musical with Ashlyn.", but that seemed to be the answer every time she asked.
"Why do I hear sheep but not hear sheep?" Ashlyn asked.
The group, excluding Carlos, had been asked to come to Seb's barn to talk about something... during a school night.
"Oh, that's Jimmy. He has social anxiety."
Plenty of animals around, some even scaring EJ.
"Listen, I'm sure Seb, Gina, and Hannah have a good reason for bringing us to his barn so late, on a school night." Ricky said, "Though, I don't mind the romantic setting."
Gideon smiled, "Our definitions of romantic setting are very different."
Gideon and Ricky never talked about why Ricky showed at the bus station. They were interrupted by his father seeing the girl standing out in the cold and asking her why she hadn't left yet.
"Okay, so, we gathered you guys here tonight 'cause I've got this idea." Hannah said, "And because we only have forty-eight hours to pull it off, it's going to take all of us."
"The whole family." Seb smiled, "So, I talked to Gina and we thought we could throw a big surprise party to celebrate the guy Carlos is."
"And a quinceañero he always wanted and never got. It's a birthday party but seriously zhuzhed up. 'Cause Carlos is one of the good guys." Gina said.
