13. Alone

A/N: Scratch what I said in the author's note in the previous chapter. They're all a year older than they should be lol, not just Soobin. So just imagine they all went to school a year late.

Date: May 15th

"When is Yeonjun coming to pick you up?" Soobin's mom asked, brushing his hair.

"In a few minutes. Where are you and Mrs. Kang going?"

"To the mall. We'll be back in a couple hours and Taehyun's father is here. Don't worry."

He nodded and went to Taehyun's room to sit there until Yeonjun arrived.

"Today's my last day of school," he said, taking the boy's hand in both of his. "Everybody's calling me crazy for deciding not to go to college this year. They keep saying "what if he doesn't wake up? Are you just never gonna go to college?" And I know that maybe I'm in denial of the fact that you won't wake up. But you're alive. That's what matters."

He rested his chin on Taehyun's chest and stared at him.

He looked the same as he did two months ago.

"I'm in denial," he said again. "It feels unreal. That accident happened two months ago, and you're still here. You're surviving, but you're not living. You're listening, but you can't talk. How have I survived this long without you? Without your voice? Without your smile? I keep imagining you. I keep having visions of you for some reason. It's kind of annoying because the vision is mean." He chuckled and looked toward the door when he heard Yeonjun's voice in the living room. "I'll be back after school to tell you how it went. I love you Baby."

He stood up and gently kissed Taehyun's forehead before walking out.

"You ready for your last day of high school?" Yeonjun asked, petting the kitten that Taehyun's mom just adopted.

Taehyun loves cats. His mom told Soobin that she got this one because he reminded her of Taehyun. He was black and white, and his personality was spunky, energetic, and sassy.

Just like Taehyun.

"As ready as I'll ever be," he said, also petting the cat. "Beomgyu and Hyuka?"

"They're both in the car. Beomgyu's nervous about today too. Kai still has another year though," he laughed. "Imagine being that young. Can't relate."

A/N: That's a personal reference. I'm the youngest out of my friend group, and they're all seventeen while I still have two more months to go as a sixteen year old. My friend always says "imagine being sixteen. Can't relate". And one of them is literally turning eighteen in September. I am young bro.

"Don't be mean. Huening Kai is adorable and- uh- um..."

Yeonjun giggled when they walked out and saw Kai and Beomgyu making out in the backseat of the car.

"You were gonna say immature? Childish? Inexperienced? Because he doesn't really look inexperienced," Yeonjun laughed, getting into the driver's seat and making both of them freak out.

Soobin shook his head and got in the passenger's seat, turning to glare at both of them.

"What is this?"

Beomgyu giggled and fixed his hair. "I guess I didn't need you to ask him if he likes me."

"So... what about college? Are you gonna have a long distance relationship until Kai graduates?"

"No... I'm moving with him," Kai said, making the two oldest gasp and turn around.

"What about high school?" Yeonjun asked.
