A/N: Last chapter <3.

Date: August 15th

Yesterday, they were in Busan for Kai's birthday, but Soobin and Taehyun drove back to Seoul today. Tomorrow was Taehyun's first day back in school, so he had to prepare. But...

Tomorrow was also Soobin's first day of school.

"Come on, we gotta go," Soobin said, opening Taehyun's car door.

"But if I get out of here, that means we'll hang out for a few hours, and you'll leave. What if I just stay in your car? Then you'll have to take me with you."

"Taehyun..."

"I know I told you it was okay, but I'm gonna miss you."

"Taehyun, just finish these next few months of making up what you missed in your second year. And then you can complete your third year. And then during the summer, even if you're still making stuff up, I'll be here with you," he said, cupping Taehyun's chin to gently kiss him. "Now come on."

Taehyun sighed and unbuckled his seatbelt before getting out of the car. They walked through the woods to their spot and sat down on the edge of the cliff. It was terrifying the first time they sat here, but if grew to be insanely calming to them.

The younger boy looked out at Seoul. It was 7 a.m., giving them around eight hours to talk before they would drive to Busan in Soobin's car, and then Taehyun would take a train back.

"This is our last time talking to each other up here for a while," Taehyun said, playing with the rocks on the ground.

Taehyun was gonna visit Soobin a lot so he could also see their other friends, and they weren't planning to hang out here anytime soon.

"It'll be okay," Soobin gave him a reassuring smile. "This won't be that bad."

***

Taehyun was crying the entire way to Busan, but he was wearing sunglasses so Soobin wouldn't notice. It would make him feel horrible if Soobin stayed for longer for him, especially if it was because he was crying.

Once they made it to the others' apartment complex, Taehyun helped him unpack a little bit and said hi to everyone.

"Be safe on the way back, okay?" Yeonjun said, hugging him.

"Of course Hyung. I'll be fine." He also hugged Kai who was crying.

He was sad that they couldn't all be together right now, especially since he was currently going into his first year too, but he knew Taehyun had to finish high school. Or at least, he wanted to.

And then he hugged Beomgyu who managed to keep a smile, but cried afterwards.

Soobin drove Taehyun to the train station, his eyes watering when they parked.

"Taehyun..."

"Don't say anything Hyung," he smiled at him, also on the verge of tears. "I know we'll see each other soon, but it'll be a few weeks before then. I didn't really have to experience being away from you for that long like you had to experience being away from me. I just want you to know that no matter how far apart, no matter what happens, we'll always be together."

He got out of the car and walked around it to Soobin's open window, looking up at the pitch black sky. Taehyun's train would be leaving in ten minutes, meaning he had to go, but he stayed by the window.

"I promise we'll always be together," he said, intertwining his pinky with Soobin's.

"I love you so much," Soobin whispered, leaning over to kiss him. He finally smiled too and pulled away to start the engine, BTS playing on the radio. "And... I'll see you later, okay?"

"Okay." Taehyun had a big smile on his face as he watched him drive away.

While on the train, he put his headphones in and played "I Like It" by BTS. It was the song that was playing at their first school dance when they said "I love you" to each other.

He didn't cry.

He just smiled and shut his eyes to remember that night.

***

The next day, Taehyun was at school again. He was obviously lonely. His friends weren't there, and everybody looked at him in sympathy and confusion.

They looked at him like he was a lab rat that somehow survived.

Unsurprisingly, the murmuring and constant stares made him feel horrible.

Date: September 4th

Soobin was excited. Tomorrow was gonna be his first visit to Busan so far, and he couldn't wait to see Taehyun.

"Yeah, I'll be there in a sec," he told Yeonjun over the phone. He was also going with them tonight to go shopping, so it was a pretty busy couple of days.

"Also, you got mail. It was dropped off a little bit ago," Yeonjun giggled and hung up.

Soobin shrugged and opened the door to go to his bedroom and get his car keys, but he saw the envelope on the bed.

He was confused, but went over to open it, unfolding the paper to read it.

"From Pusan National University?" He asked, seeing the logo at the top of the paper. "We gladly accept you, Kang Taehyun, into our... veterinary... program..." Soobin sat on the bed confused and then turned the paper over to see Taehyun's handwriting. "I dropped out and got my GED. I got accepted into your school. I'll be starting next semester."

He looked at the paper with tears in his eyes and then looked up when the door opened.

Taehyun smiled at him, held up a key to the apartment, and leaned on the doorframe to say,

"Hey roomie."
