Everybody at school heard about the accident a few days later.

Most people were sad about it and empathized for Soobin, while some people were horrible enough to be glad that Soobin was "free" now. Some people thought he wouldn't come back, and some knew he would because of his desire to have a good education.

But when he came in on Monday, wearing all black, a hoodie and jeans, instead of his usual suit, everybody regretted all the gossip.

Most people at the school loved him, and all of them felt bad for theorizing about him when they saw how he looked.

Tired, broken, and like the last thing he wanted to do was be here away from his boyfriend.

"Soobin." Lia was the first one to come up to him when he was at his locker. "I would like to join you as vice president of the student council."

Soobin shrugged. "Whatever."

She sighed and walked away, wanting to talk to him about it later.

"Soobin," a random girl said.

"What?"

"Um... now that you're single, I was wondering if you would maybe want to... you know..." she gestured towards the janitor's closet and he gave her the most hateful glare ever.

"Whoever says I'm single or puts Taehyun's name in their mouth will get their fucking ass beat, got it?" He asked, making everybody in the hallway frantically nod and get to their classes.

Soobin went to English, sitting in the back next to Taehyun's silver-haired best friend.

"Soobin, I've been thinking," Beomgyu started. "Do you think Kai likes me?"

"Why don't you ask him?"

"Well that would be weird. Can you ask him for me?"

"No."

Beomgyu playfully scoffed and side-hugged him. "I know you're in a bad mood Soobinnie. But it'll be okay."

Soobin sighed and tried to ignore him for the rest of the class, but unfortunately, they had most of their classes together since they're in the same grade.

When lunch rolled around, they sat with Kai and Yeonjun came from his school to eat with them.

"Did you guys see the news?" Yeonjun asked and they all shook their heads. "They got the footage on a street cam.. There were multiple cars in the accident, and it was caused by someone running a red light. Taehyun swerved, probably in fear of crashing into that person, and that caused other cars to swerve too. It was a big mess."

"Did anyone die?" Kai asked.

"No... but Taehyun got hurt the most," he said sadly, looking at Soobin who was picking at his food.

"Did they find the person who caused it?" Soobin asked, eyes lighting up when Yeonjun nodded.

"Yup. He has never had his license, his plates were expired, and he's being charged for other things they found him guilty of."

They all started talking about it in excitement and Soobin looked away.

"I'm gonna go get a drink from the drinking fountain," he said, leaving even though he had a water bottle.

He walked through the school's outdoor eating area to go inside, getting a drink from the closest fountain.

"You shouldn't be mean to people just because you can't talk to me."

He looked to the side, seeing Taehyun standing there, repeatedly throwing a baseball up in the air.

"You're just in my head," he chuckled and Taehyun shrugged.

"So? If you're imagining me, then that means you're deprived of me. Look at the locket I gave you."

Soobin shook his head and Taehyun pouted.

"Stop acting like this. School is important. You know I want you to succeed and be happy."

"How am I supposed to do that without you?"

Taehyun tilted his head with a small smile and walked over to cup Soobin's cheek in his hand.

"I'm not gone. I'm just asleep. A long sleep, Soobin. But I'll wake up at some point. I'm always with you, just not physically. You can do it whether I'm here or not."

He faded away and Soobin bit his lip, trying not to cry.

His mind literally just did something to make him cry.

Why.
