One Last Salute

Akito's Leave of Absence

As Levis body layed on the bed completely still, Akito begged for him to wake up. Days would go by and Levi wouldn't wake up and it scared Akito. He couldn't loose his soulmate let alone raise their child on his own when there is going to be a war. "Levi....Please humanity needs you, Henry needs you.....i need you,"said Akito as his voice cracked and holding Levi's hand. Levi shifted a little and squeezed Akito's hand. Tears started to form in Akitos eyes and kissed Levi's hand. "Please baby....i need you...please wake up..,"said Akito. Levi's hand slowly lost grip of Akito's and Akito started bawling. "Akito its going to be okay Captain Levi will wake up soon but i do need to speak to you about something," said Eren as he walked up behind Akito. Akito kissed Levi's hand one last time and walked out with Eren. He hated leaving Levi alone because he never knew if he would wake up and he wanted to be by his side when he did.

"So what is it? I need to be by Levi's side so be quick,"said Akito. Eren pulled Akito into his room and locked the door. Very confused Akito leaned against the wall and looked at Eren. "So you know that guy who threw rocks and almost killed Levi?,"asked Eren. "No of course i don't know the man who threatened my husbands life and may not wake up..." said Akito annoyed. Eren sighed," He's my brother...Zeke...and he's from the place where Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie grew up called Marley. I made a deal with him but I can't tell you it but I also need you to come with me...". Akito started to become angry and leaned off the wall. "So you want me to leave my husband to go help that F-ing idiot who almost killed him?! Do you know how bad that sounds Eren! I can't leave Levi! Not for some monkey titan shifter!" Eren knew Akito would be upset but he needed to convince Akito to come with.

"What if i said that after we went through with the deal that you can get your revenge and kill my brother...?" asked Eren. Akito slowly calmed down and sat in a chair across from Eren. "I can't leave Levi, Eren he needs me and I need him...I wanted to kill that bastard so badly, but what if something happens to Levi huh? And i won't be here..." said Akito with his head down. "I understand that you are hurting but we are about to be in a war Akito and Hange said that you would take Levi's place if anything happened to him... so you have to decide. Leave with me and save humanity or stay with Levi and watch humanity crash and burn and not have a good life for Henry to live in...?" As Akito teared up, he walked out and told Eren he would go with him but only if he could get revenge on Zeke in the end.

After a couple days went by, Akito finished packing up and wrote a letter for levi and put it on the table next to Levi's bed. Levi was getting slowly better everyday but Hange never knew when Levi could wake up. "Levi...if you can hear me please know that where im going i will be safe so please don't worry about me and if you wake up don't come find me I dont want anything more to happen to you my love. Well i wrote more in a letter so read it when you wake up, but i just want you to know that I love you so much and I am thinking about every single day," said Akito as he caressed Levi's cheek.

As Akito went to get up, he felt something touch his wedding ring. With all of the strength Levi had he grabbed Akito's ring finger and held it for a few minutes. Akito smiled a little and teared up as he kissed Levi's forehead. "I will be back soon Levi...I promise...Just hang on for me..." said Akito as he walked out of the room taking one last look at Levi before he left.
