One Last Salute

Opening Up

The next day, everyone had a day off to relax. Everyone hung out with their friends and were having a good time, but Levi was in his room alone working on paperwork. Akito wanted to go check up on Levi so he went to his room and knocked. "What do you want brat?" said Levi as he opened the door. Suddenly Akito hugged him and Levi froze. He was confused as to why Akito would hug him. "why are you hugging me? Did you need something?" said Levi. "I wanted to give you a hug because I just thought you needed one since you were alone," said Akito holding Levi close. Levi blushed a little, "Okay well I have to work on some stuff so thanks for the hug I guess..." Akito smiled and walked away then sighed. He thought about what it would be like to be in a relationship with Levi, but he knew he would never let him in. "He will never like me back," said Akito walking down the hall.

"Who would never like you back?" said a familiar voice. Akito froze and saw Eren, "Oh um... no one..." Eren shook his head and sighed. "Well Section Commander Hange wanted to speak to you about something she's in her office." Confused Akito nodded and headed to Hange's room and knocked on the door. "Oh, hey Akito come in." Hange said as she stepped aside. As Akito walked in, Hange quickly closed the door and locked it, " So when are you going to confess to Levi?"

Akito turned around fast and tried to walk out but Hange grabbed his arm. "I'm not confessing Hange," Akito said as he looked at the ground. Hange knew he would say that, "Well if you're afraid he doesn't like you back he does that's why he blushes around you not because you make him uncomfortable it's because deep down he likes you and you should believe me because I know everything from his past to his secrets." Akito sighed and told her that he would go confess. Hange jumped for joy and pushed Akito out.

Akito rushed to Levi's room and knocked. "Brat? Why do you keep coming to my-," said Levi. Suddenly Akito kissed Levi on the lips then pulled away, "I'm in love with you Levi." Levi stood there in shock and before he could say anything, he saw tears start to form on Akito's eyes and he almost walked out, but Levi grabbed his arm.  "Aki... I um....," said Levi. Akito knew Levi didn't like him back so he pulled his arm away then walked out. "No Aki come back! Let me explain!" said Levi panicked as followed Akito. Akito turned around and pinned Levi to the wall, "I know you don't have feelings for me so don't even try to lie! I hate it when you lie to me! If you don't like me back just say it!" Levi began to tear up and looked Akito in his eyes. "I promise you I- Look I just can't be in a relationship...," said Lev. Akito lifted his fist to almost punched Levi, but he instead stopped and stormed off angry and annoyed. He didn't understand why Levi was so afraid to be in a relationship, but it didn't matter to him anymore he was tired of trying to build a close relationship with Levi.

After almost three weeks, Levi and Akito hardly ever talked to each other. During training Akito would hardly show up and when he did, it was when another captain was doing the training. Levi on the other hand would also avoid Akito. He would mostly stay in his office working on paperwork day and night, never taking a break to relax. People around the survey corps base were confused as to what had happened between the captain and the cadet until one day Erwin and Hange wanted to put a stop to the avoidance between Levi and Akito. The two Commanders met up with Akito's friends and came up with a plan to make Levi and Akito talk.

        After they came up with the plan, Hange and Erwin walked to Levi's room and knocked on his door. "What? I'm kinda busy right now,"said Levi as he opened the door. Erwin looked at Levi closely and saw dark bags under his eyes with slight puffiness. "I need you to go to the stables to check on the horses." Levi was very confused as to why he would need to go to the stables, but he did not question his orders so he went to the outside to the stables.

       Soon a shadow of a tall figure walked towards the stable and stopped behind Levi. "Captain...,"said the figure. Levi turned around and saw Akito standing behind him. He wanted to glare at him, but all he could do is just look up at him. "What are you doing here? Armin and Eren told me to come to the stables to check on the horse's,"said Akito. Levi looked at Akito in confusion because Erwin and Hange told him the same thing. "Well I'm here for the same reason." Akito rolled his eyes and sat on a bench. He will still annoyed at Levi for being scared, but he knew that he wanted to try one last time to get Levi to open up. "Levi...open up to me.." Levi froze and turned towards Akito fast. "What? No..." Akito stood up and picked up Levi. Levi's face became very red and tried to push off Akito, but each time he tried Akitos grip became stronger. "Please just let me go....I do not want to talk," said Levi as tears started to form in his eyes.

      Akito was done he was tired of Levi acting so scared so he let go of Levi and threw him on the ground. A loud thud came from the ground as Levi laid there in pain and in shock. Inside the base Erwin, Hange, Eren, and Armin looked out the door to see what was going on. Akito began kicking Levi hard as anger overcame him. Levi curled up on the ground and tried to shield himself, but nothing was working. Akito picked up Levi again and tackled him to the ground and pinned him down. "I hate you! You will die alone don't you understand that?! If you don't let anyone into your life you will be miserable! I just want you to open up to me! Please Levi...," said Akito as he looked down at Levi. Levi looked shakily up at Akito and started to tear up. He didn't want to open up to someone, but something about Akito made him want to be vulnerable towards him.

      Suddenly Levi gripped onto Akitos body and began to cry silently. His body was shaky and his tears were going down his face at a fast rate. After Levi stopped crying, Akito picked him up and walked to Levi's room as he laid him down on the bed and held him close and played with his hair. " I dont like seeing you cry..."said Akito. Levi looked up at Akito and sighed. Akito tickled Levi and he began to squirm and laugh and Akito was happy to see that Levi was happy and that he could finally be with him. "Your so cute~~," said Akito. Levi blushed a lot and covered his face, "S-Shut up." "Make me~," said Akito. Suddenly Levi kissed Akito and stared into his eyes, "I really like you Aki." Akito smiled and kissed Levi back," I really like you too Levi".

As Levi smiled, he cuddled more into Akito and slowly fell asleep. Akito looked down at Levi and kissed his head then fell asleep holding Levi close. Akito loved that he finally got Levi to open up and be with him he just hoped that he is strong enough to make sure he could never leave Levi no matter what.
