Chapter 20 - Back To Kanto?

~ 3rd Person POV ~
"Pikachu!" the now evolved Pichu said in determination with electricity sparking out his cheeks
"Pichu! You evolved!" Ash's eyes sparkled, the boy always dreamed of having his Pichu evolved and his dream came true
"Pica" the mouse Pokémon turned to his trainer
"ahem, Electabuzz Thunder Punch once more" Paul retorted as Ash gritted his teeth since the purple haired trainer didn't let him even research his newly evolved Pokémon's moves
"o-okay, Pikachu, just use tackle!" Ash called out
but instead–

"Pikachu!" the mouse Pokémon used a new move that was the complete opposite of what his trainer called out
"Pika Pika Chu!" the Pikachu called out
"huh?!?" Ash said shocked
"what move was that??" Zoey asked
"Iron Tail" Reggie replied
"but Ash didn't call that move" Candice blinked
"I think he's going through a evolutionary disobedience phase" Reggie bit his lip
"that's hard to deal with alright . . . " the ice type gym leader said with a frown
"hm" the red head but her lip nervously watching the battle

After a couple more moves Pikachu continued not listening to the ravenette's commands
'w-why Pikachu not listening to me?!?' Ash thought himself as he blinked in confusion then tried again
"I-Iron Tail!" Ash said as Pikachu just did his own thing making Ash's eyes well up with tears, Pichu (Pikachu) was always his best friend, he'd listen to him, and not just that Pichu (Pikachu) was given to him from his boyfriend making him even more special to the boy
'd-don't cry, don't cry . . . ' the boy thought himself sucking up his feelings and continued battling

– Time Skip To The Next Day –

~ Ash's POV ~
The battle with Paul didn't end up pretty, my Pokémon ended up super injured and weak as well as Pikachu, he didn't listen to me though, even when I told him to dodge he didn't listen he just took the attacks . . .

"hi Ash!" I heard a bright voice as I sat in the seats of the lobby of the Pokémon Center
I turned and saw Dawn
"h-hey Dawn" I smiled slightly
"something wrong?" she blinked
I took a deep breath and explained what happened
"so Pikachu isn't listening to you?" she frowned
"nope" I sighed shaking my head
"I feel like a complete failure" I added
"now now Ash, I'm sure you did great, it's just that Paul is so much more experienced than you" she gave me a sympathetic smile
"I guess" I muttered 
"I need a walk" I got up and left for a walk giving my Pokémon one last glance through the glass window seeing all my Pokémon in pain including Pikachu

After my walk I took a decision, and I'm going back to Kanto, this isn't for me, it was dumb of me for even thinking I was meant to battle and win badges
I sighed and thought about it all, and well I won't be taking my Pokémon with me they deserve a better trainer and that trainer isn't me . . .

~ Dawn's POV ~
Ash went for his walk, and well now hour passed so I went to go look for him in the potential places he could be walking around at, after not finding him
I decided I ask Nurse Joy for his room number because maybe he was in there resting, he did look tired anyway

"hey Nurse Joy" I smiled
"hi dear, what can I do for you?" she gave me her gentle sweet smile of always, just like the other Nurse Joy's all over Sinnoh
"may I please know the number to Ash's room? I'd like to check on him" I smiled
"oh yes, you mean the owner of the Pikachu right?" she clarified
"yes that's him" I smiled
"okay, let's see" she smiled typing away in her computer
"room 15, right down this hallway dear" she smiled signaling as Chansey also signaled cutlet
"Chan Chan Chansey" she signaled making giggle
"thank you!" I smiled walking down the hallway 
"I hope he's okay now Piplup" I smiled at him as he chimed at me reassuringly
"Pip!"

"Ash?" I knocked the door lightly
the door gave off a slight creek and I saw it was a little open . . . ?
"A-Ash I'm coming in" I gulped and enter to not see Ash
"Ash?" I went to check the bathroom as Piplup jumped out of my arms and started looking under the bed and drawers which is totally unnecessary
"where could he be?" I mumbled
"Piplup!" Piplup signaled to me at a folded piece of paper on the bed's pillow

I opened the folded paper and read it which read–

" I'm going back to Kanto, I can't do this anymore . . .  I'm a terrible trainer and my Pokémon deserve someone better train them and take them to the top

~ Ash "

"we need to find him Piplup, he can't do this to his Pokémon he just can't!" I said as Piplup agreed
while leaving the room I remembered something:
that Gary guy I saw Ash talk to a while ago, he seems to be close to him so maybe he can talk some sense into him

"h-hey Professor Rowan??" I said semi-nervous when I dialed his number since I remember Ash mentioning Gary works with Professor Rowan
"hello Dawn, what can I do for you?" he replied
"this is out of the ordinary . . . but may I please speak to Gary?? I really need to talk to him" I bit my lip
"uh yes surely, is everything okay?" he said concerned
"somewhat . . . " I sighed
"tell me later, I'll transfer your call to Gary" he said
"okay thank you" I smiled
"you're welcome" he replied before transferring the call

~ Gary's POV ~
I was relaxing re as big a book at my room since Professor Rowan had gave me a break which feels nice
while reading my phone started ringing from a transfer call
I answered it think maybe it's as a new ranger mission and they needed my help or a new research project from a different facility
"hello, Gary Oak speaking" I smiled
"h-hi" a girl replied
"may I help you?" I raised an eyebrow sitting up from my bed
"my name is Dawn, you don't know me and I barley know you but it's about Ash–" the minute she mentioned Ash I panicked and cut her off
"A-Ash?!? What happened???" I got up and started pacing
"he's fine . . . I hope . . . the thing is, Ash got into a harsh battle with a bother trainer and his Pokémon are very injured, his Pichu evolved into a Pikachu who now doesn't obey him, and to top it all off Ash left a note in his room in the Pokémon Center saying he's going back to Kanto and abandoning his Pokémon because he's not 'good enough' " she said in panic putting me in panic
"this ain't good . . . send me your location I'll be there as quick as I can!" I said nervously
"yeah of course, if you'd like I think we should spilt up and look for him" she suggested
"yeah good idea, thank you for telling me, I'm on my way" I said
"no problem bye" she said as I smiled
"bye" I hung up and left to my Jeep with my Pokémon and drive probably over speed limit but I don't care, I have to look for Ash no matter what.
