We stepped off the plane, and the engines roared until it all fell silent. My brain barely functioned enough to move. Chase stood at the end of the ramp, an excited smile on his lips. Damien greeted him, and Chase took our luggage.

"How was it?" Chase asked with a laugh.

"Well, we won't be working with him anymore. Not after he slandered our company."

"Good, I never liked him anyways. But, the taxi is waiting for you to return to the office-"

"The office?" Damien snapped. He cleared his throat and apologized, "Why? We've been traveling for three days. I think we want to go home."

"I know, but Abe is requesting another meeting. He's been demanding it since you left."

Damien frowned and turned to me, "I'll have then drive you to the manor."

"Thank you." I smiled.

I closed the door behind me, removing my shoes and socks. The manor felt comforting.

"Miss (L/N)," Chef Kenshin called, excitedly. I smiled at him and placed my luggage by the opening of the kitchen.

"I saw the interview." He sighed, "What a terrible man. Damien would never intentionally harm anyone." I nodded in agreement and sat down at the island. I folded my hands together on the surface of the marble and stared into the distance for a moment before Kenshin has cleared his throat, "Are you hungry? I can prepare something for you-"

"If it's not an issue. And as long as you eat with me." I grinned playfully.

"I'd enjoy that very much." He smiled back. Kenshin grabbed some pans from underneath the counter and placed them onto the stove, then kicking up the heat a little. "What are you feeling? Jambon-Beurre? Cherry Clafoutis?"

"How about a grilled cheese?" I offered. He looked at me, slightly confused. He laughed for a moment, "I'm a culinary expert! I can cook almost anything, don't be so shy!"

"I'm making it for you." I grinned. I slightly pushed him out the way with my hip, then opening the fridge to pull out the cheese, and some butter. "I'm not a culinary expert, but I know how not to burn things." The chef looked surprised for a moment before he sat down, and gave an awkward smile, "Oh, well thank you. I've never had anyone-...thank you."

I swiftly cooked up two sandwiches and slapped them down onto a couple of plates. He thanked me, and took a small bite with gratitude. We ate in silence, staring out the large windows that lined the kitchen and dining room. He washed the plates, then grabbing his coat and swinging it over his left shoulder.

"I'll be leaving now" He announced with the front door slightly opened, "Contact me if you need anything. I believe my number is on the fridge."

"Be safe, sir." I smiled to him as I waved. The door shut, and everything went quiet. It was the first time I was alone, in weeks. It felt weird. I sighed and made my way to my bedroom. Changing into my pajamas, I jumped into my bed, and pulled the covers to my chin. Damien would probably be home soon, maybe I should stay up. Maybe he'll need my help with something. I grabbed my phone and shot him a text. A response never came. I sighed, and then drifted into sleep.

When I woke, the manor was still empty. Yawning, I stepped out of bed and shuffled to the living room. No Kenshin today. I frowned and collapsed onto the couch. I didn't know what to do. Damien usually told me what to do. And he wasn't here. He never responded to my text. His car wasn't out front, and his bed was still made. Damien never came home last night. A pit formed in my stomach as I worried about what had happened at that meeting. I yanked out my phone and called Chase, listening to the ringing for a moment before he answered in a sleepy voice.
