Chapter 23

Adrien/Cat Noir PoV

Just as the monster's big, ugly mouth crashes down on us, it disappears. I look up, and see a figure standing above us.

"'Sup, guys, You okay?" says a guy with dark brown skin and a kind face as he holds his hand towards Y/N. Y/N takes his hand while I get up.

"Ohhh you guys are gonna be in soo much trouble when Jade finds out," he says with a smirk. Then he looks at me and raises a thick eyebrow.

"Who's this guy?" he asks looking at Y/N, then he clears his throat, looks at me and says, "Who are you? And why are you here? Actually, how are you here?"

Before I can say anything, Y/N quickly cuts through. "Chase, this is Adrien Agreste, my friend," and for some reason, when she says friend I feel something in me deflate, "we came here for your help, you see-"

"How are you here, though!? I thought only Progenies could get in. Unless you're..."

Y/N and I exchange looks. "I don't think I am, the power of miraculouses usually works on me"

"YOU TOLD HIM!? Oh, Y/N, you are in so, so, SO much trouble..."

"I know, but I had to! Let me just explain-" starts Y/N.

"You didn't let me finish. You're in so, so, SO much trouble if Jade or Master Vole find out. So, we're gonna make sure that doesn't happen."

"Come on, let's... get away from that place. It's very forbidden," he says, grinning at it as if he was making a mental note to go back.

"What was that place, and why didn't the flowers lead me to the Core?" asks Y/N.

"Ah, we didn't explain it to you? Oops, sorry about that," he says apologetically. "They change throughout the day, where they lead, I mean. You can tell by where the sun is. The flowers will only lead to the Core if the sun is directly above the Core, otherwise, it could lead anywhere. And to answer your former question, I don't know. Jade said there's some evil lady in there who can manipulate the mind, and tries to lure you into the cave by creating fake monsters that chase you in. When you're not being attacked, Progenies are able to stop the mind manipulating."

"Why?" I ask, I couldn't help it.

He thinks for a moment. "Probably because a lot of Progenies' powers are to do with mind manipulation. Well, we'd better get back to the Core, and you can explain why Adam is here."

"It's Adrien," I say.

"My bad, dude. Anyway, there are some other Progenies for you to meet. And now Master Vole can begin training you to use your powers!"
