Adrien PoV

The electricity coursing through my veins is 100% because of the mission staring me dead in the eye. No other reason. Not at all because Y/N is holding my hand. Nope.

"Okay, let's split up, since the flowers don't currently lead to the door." announces Chase. "How about 2 and 3?" he suggests.

"Sounds good!" says the blond girl. There is something in her blue eyes that changes when she looks at Chase, and I could have sworn she was blushing. Chase doesn't seem to notice.

As long as I'm with Y/N, I'll be fine. And it's only because I know her best. Totally.

"Okay, Jordan and I can go together?" suggests Chase. "We've got more experience. So, Becca, Y/N and Adrien, is that good with you?"

Chase is responded to with nods from all three of us. "Okay, cool."

He and Jordan give each other a smile and fist bump, then Chase turns to us and says, "See you in a minute," and they're running through the field.

Becca turns to us. "Hi, I'm Rebecca. Call me Becca, though."

Y/N gives her a smile. "I'm Y/N."

"Adrien," I say as I nod to her. "Nice to meet you."

"Okay, let's go left since they went right," I say as calm as I can. "We'll jog for a bit, then fast walk, and jog again, and so on. Is that good with you guys?"

I am answered with agreeing nods. "Okay, let's go."

We begin by jogging through long grass up to our knees. This place is usually beautiful, but there is something different about today - the sky seems duller, the plants seem to wilt, the whole place is just so quiet.

Eventually, we slow to a walk, keeping a look out.

"So," starts Becca as we walk beside each other. "Where are you guys from?"

"London," says Y/N, then she and Becca turn to me.

"I'm from Paris," I answer.

"Woah, Paris... I always wanted to go there," there's hope in her eyes as she looks up. "Once I finish school, though - I'm studying real hard to learn French, and maybe get a scholarship and go to Paris."

I smile. It's so nice to see someone so excited about your own country. "Yeah, it's a beautiful city. You need to go to the Louvre, it's awesome."

Thinking back to Paris reminds me of my old life - and somehow, it doesn't hurt much anymore. Ever since I met Y/N... well, Marinette hasn't been on my mind much. I thought about what Y/N told me about moving on, and she really helped me, I'm so grateful. I should tell her that. Someday.

Adrien!

My head snaps up. Y/N and Becca aren't there.

Adrien! Help!

I'm alone. My heart pounds in all directions.

Adrien! It's me! I hope you didn't forget! Help!

Marinette's voice is screaming. Despite what I said earlier about me not thinking about her as much, I still care for her, and her voice reminds me of that like a punch to the gut.

"Marinette!" I cry back, and I sprint in the direction I hear.

"Adrien!" another shout, a different voice. "Adrien, stop! Come back!"

I turn around, but there's no one there. The world is spinning; the ground sways under my feet.

A hand lands on my shoulder. Y/N's worried face meets mine.

"Hey, it's okay. We need to go," and I nod.

"What happened?" Becca asks, worry written all over her face.

"We need to get back to the Core," says Y/N, and I couldn't agree more.
