Progenies

Chapter 22

Y/N POV

"So, you know the story?"

"There's this bar. We use a code phrase to get to the Homeland, the place where Progenies are safe. We meet Jade and Chase there and see if they know anything about Lia's whereabouts"

"Great," I reply to Adrien. We quickly walking down a dull street towards Homeland bar.

"Are you sure I can get in? Didn't you say only Progenies can?" asks Adrien.

"Well... yes, but we can try. And even if you can't, I can just ask Jade and Chase to come out"

"And you're sure they'll be there?"

"Pretty sure"

"Right. Sorry for all the questions"

"Here," I say. We turn into the bar. It's almost empty, except for Mr Aldane looking bored at the counter.

"Hey, it's me, remember? I'm a Progeny"

He looks at me skeptically. Right, the code phrase. I can't remember it word for word.

"The weather outside is great, right? But I think there's a chance of rain," and thankfully, with that, Mr Aldane nods, and steps aside.

We're walking towards the door behind the counter, when he puts an arm in front of Adrien and shakes his head.

"He's with me, can we go in together?"

Mr Aldane raises an eyebrow, then nods. "Thank you," says Adrien.

"Okay, through this door"

We walk in, and come out to a picturesque field. This time, I recognise the purple flowers in front of us.

"Come, the purple flowers lead to the Core, which is probably where Jade and Chase are"

I look back at Adrien, and he looks around wide-eyed. I smile, then grab his hand. As we walk through them, something doesn't feel right, but I'm not sure why.

"Do you feel that, Adrien?" I ask him.

He gives me a puzzled look, "No? What is it?"

"I'm sure it's nothing"

The flowers go into a cave. "What? This isn't right! They should have lead me to the Core!"

"Y/N! LOOK OUT!" before I can register the words, Adrien pushes me out of the way of a huge shape coming towards me.

I look over, and see it's face. It makes me want to faint. It doesn't have eyes, just large antennae feeling around, and pincers opening and closing. We try to run for the fields, but it gets in front of us, forcing us to back into the cave.

I trip over something, causing Adrien to fall to, and the beast opens its pincers wide as it stands above us, revealing a disgusting mouth that's about to devour us.
