Admin and Rose proceeded to the rest of the group, where Lily and Snow were complaining that they wanted dinner and droving Charles mad. Nicklaus was casting spells to enchant the area from enemies if they came near. Kaza was cooking dinner from the left over venison and herbs she found. The group noticed that Admin and Rose were coming. Nicklaus was the first to speak up.

“Hey, you two, I want to show you something! It involves the ring I... umm “borrowed”. He said sheepishly.

“Wait- You stole something. Without my consent?! I thought I was supposed to be the professional thief!” Kaza said laughingly.

“Anyway,” He said. “I can take energy from other sources and then once in the ring, I can cast spells from the energy in the ring, rather than from me. I just look out with my mind, touch other beings, and take energy.”

Nicklaus did exactly what he said.

“Nicklaus! I thought you didn’t like that kind of method!” Charles said indignantly.

“You see, I’m not taking energy from other humans that need energy, I’m taking from plants, who use photosynthesis to get more energy, and it’s basically unlimited until the plant almost runs out of energy.”

Out of the blue Kaza yelled, “SOUPS READY!!! But first, Nicklaus? Can you make sure none of my herbs were poisonous?” Nicklaus agreed and found none, then he gave a book to Kaza. It was herbs he got all the way back from the library La’ Touv showed him. Kaza thanked him, and hugged the book close to her chest. Then, out of the corner of his eyes, Nicklaus saw Charles and Admin with the grins again. They ate the amazing soup and then retired, all but Kaza.

She grabbed a lantern and started reading. It was a cook book! It had all sorts of dishes she’d never heard of, like Chicken Stir Fry, meatloaf, and cookies. Kaza now really wanted to bake all of these dishes. She said right there to herself she will bake these one day. After that she grew weary and fell asleep, clinging to the book, dreaming about how these dishes tasted.

In the morning Charles was in front again, he always was, no matter how early. It was a beautiful day outside; the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the questers were all pleased to be moving again.

“I almost forgot something.” Kaza said. “Do you all remember at the inn, on the first night of the quest, how I might have something for us to look into?” They all nodded their heads expectantly, waiting for her to continue. “Well, I would have said earlier, but everything happened so fast, what with Maria and.. Fendrel..but I remember now, and it isn’t too late to make use of the information.” The group looked at her, silent. “There is an annual ball, in the kingdom of Alenesu, and one of my contacts-” “Wait- contacts?” Lily interrupted. “I have my sources.” Kaza replied with a wink. “Anyway, one of my contacts was rumored to have important information regarding the Weght, and he is supposed to be at the ball. If we can infiltrate the castle during the dance, then we can learn vital information that could ultimately lead us to the destruction of the Weght!” Her voice picked up speed as she talked, and she was clearly excited about the idea of a ball.

“Well, what are we waiting for,” Admin said. “Set course for Alenesu!!”

Snow remembered that Alenesu was north east of their current location and her hometown, as well as Kaza’s. They had been childhood friends, until Kaza had been taken away by her stepfather. Rose was the first to question her plan.

“I assure you, my contact can be trusted.” Kaza said forcefully. “That’s not what I was getting at… I’m just a bit concerned on the HOW. This ball is meant for nobility, Charles has no problem getting in obviously, but… What are we supposed to do?” Rose asked

“We must look the part. My contact has been many times, and he is often surprised by how many of us common folk are able to sneak in every year. I do share your concern, though.” Replied Kaza. “How are we going to do that?” asked Snow

“What if Nicklaus changed our appearances.” Admin suggested. “He could make us look like nobility.” “Admin, you could draw us clothes also” suggested Lily. Admin replied “You see, I happily would, but the size of my drawing is based on the size of my canvas. That is why I keep saying we need a shit ton of paper.” They left the conversation at that, until Kaza picked it back up again.
