Chapter 12

"Hey do you know if Lin's alright?" Kya said walking up to Tenzin and Pema. Tenzin jumped as far away from her as he could when he realized his sister was behind him.
"Uh, what?" Tenzin stammered, "Why wouldn't Lin be alright?"
Kya raised a questioning eyebrow at him. "The intercom earlier? Calling her to the office?"
"Oh yeah that," Tenzin said scratching the back of his neck. "I don't know, is she not around?"
"Clearly she isn't, she's be here by now."
"Oh right."
"Is there a problem with you two? You seem to be avoiding her?" Kya asked, glancing at Pema who blushed and tried to avoid eye contact.
"No! No problem," Tenzin said a little too quickly for Kyas liking.
"Maybe we should stop by her house and check on her," Kya stated.
"I'm sure she's alright, beside Pema and I need to get back to the air temple because Dad was gonna teach a lesson."
"Your choosing Pema and dad over Lin? Your girlfriend Lin?" Kya asked him, feeling a little angry with her brother for how he was just tossing Lin aside like she was nothing.
"Well i promised Dad," Tenzin said defensively, "Lin can take care of herself."
Kya rolled her eyes, "Fine. I'll go by myself."

"Su can you focus! I'm trying to help you so something like today doesn't happen again!" Lin snapped at her sister sounding exasperated.
"Hi Lin!" Kya waved as she walked up to the two earth benders.
"Oh hi Kya," Lin said walking over to her. "My sisters a nightmare, no wonder mom barley gives her any lessons."
"What happened at school? You left early?"
"Oh Su collapsed a wall on these too little shit heads and of coarse mom couldn't leave her job to handle her I had to. Now I'm trying to teach Suyin some control over her bending so she doesn't do it again but she won't fucking listen!" Lin said loud enough for Su to hear.
"Sorry," Su said jutting out her bottom lip. Lin rolled her eyes.
"I was just about to give up and head over the the air temple to talk to Tenzin," Lin informed Kya.
"Yeah that's probably a good idea, I tried to get him to come here with me but said he had to go do some training thing with dad and Pema," Kya told Lin.
Lin rolled her eyes though Kya could tell she was slightly hurt, though she was very good at hiding it.
"Su, Im going to yell at Tenzin. Go inside and don't burn the house down," Lin said and Su listened. They watched as the girl ran inside their house and locked the door before turning and heading to the air temple.

"Hey Lin," Aang greeted Lin and Kya as they walked into the main room.
"Where's Tenzin?" She asked in quite the intimidating way.
Aang frowned. "He's outside with Pema, you seem upset is everything alright?" He asked standing up and walking over to her.
Lin grunted and turned to walk back out but Aang grabbed her by the shoulder to stop her. "You can tell me if something going on," Aang said kindly to Lin. They had always gotten along famously and Aang really loved Lin like family.
"He's being an ass," Lin grumbled.
"He's been just like ignoring Lin and spending all his time with Pema," Kya added.
Aang sighed. "I had noticed you haven't been around here as much."
"Yeah so i'm gonna go throw rocks at him until he listens to me," Lin said like this was an everyday occurrence.
"Try not to give him a concussion," Aang snickered, knowing full well his son would deserve it.
Lin and Kya rounded the corner and their jaws dropped when they saw Pema laying in Tenzins lap.
"Tenzin!" Kya snapped at her brother. She had her suspicions there was something going on between them but just seeing this confirmed them all for her. Tenzin wasn't the kind of guy to just let girls go laying on him.
"Lin!" Tenzin exclaimed dumping Pema off his lap. "This isn't what it may look like I swear!"
Lin's jaw was clenched so tight Kya was afraid she'd break it. "I fucking knew it," she snarled in a low voice, a look in her eye like a predator hunting it's prey.
"I can't believe youd do this to Lin!" Kya scoffed. She never thought her brother would actually cheat on anyone.
"Her head just hurt so she was laying down!" Tenzin said defensively, though neither of the girls believed him.
"Save it," Lin barked, causing both Tenzin and Pema to flinch. Pema was being awfully quiet, and looked like she was about to go running in the opposite direction. "I really don't wanna hear it," Lin said through gritted teeth.
"Please believe me Lin," Tenzin said his eyes filling with tears that were threatening to spill.
Looking at Lin, Kya realized she looked completely calm. But not calm like she didn't care, the kind of calm that comes before a storm.
"Your an ass, and your gonna regret this," Lin stated staring Tenzin directly in the eyes.
"Please Lin," Tenzin stammered.
"I'm sorry," Pema mumbled from behind Tenzin, tears streaming down her face. "I didn't mean for this to happen."
"Well it did," Kya snapped at her. "Happy now?"
Lin turned on her heels and stormed off in the opposite direction. Kya stormed towards Tenzin, "Are you serious! You didn't even have the common courtesy for Lin to just break up with her!"
"I was going to! I just didn't know how!" Tenzin argued, a single tear falling down his face.
There was a loud booming crash from the direction Lin was in and the three of them hurried around the see that Lin had punched the side of the house causing the wall to crumble to the ground.
"I'm not fixing it," Lin stated plainly. She looked and felt completely numb. She was feeling so many emotions that they just turned off.
Aang and Katara hurried out to see what all the commotion was. "What happened?" Katara asked looking at Lin with wide eyes.
Lin said nothing so Kya responded instead. "Tenzin cheated on Lin."
"What!" Aang and Katara snapped in unison, looking at their son with a mixture of confusion and disappointment.
"No it's not like that!" Tenzin tried to defend him self.
"Save it!" Lin snapped hitting the wall next to her causing it to break and fall to the ground. "Not fixing that either."
"It's Tenzins room so we should just leave it," Kya said.
"I would but that's a little harsh," Aang said before fixing the walls.
Lin stormed off back to her house ignoring the calls from the family behind her. When she got home she hurried up to her room and collapsed on her bed. She stared at the ceiling, still not sure how she felt. Hurt? Betrayed? After about an hour of sitting in the dark she decided to go outside and try to bend some of her anger out.
"Lin?" Toph said as she walked up the path to the bending quart next to the house. "Are you alright? I can feel your enraged breathing from the gates."
"Fine," Lin snapped sending a rock flying at the wall.
"You don't seem fine come over here," Toph ordered, knowing asking wouldn't work in this situation. "What happened?"
Lin sat down next to her mom on the steps and sighed. She felt all the emotions she had shoved inside come up at once and she brown down crying. Tophs eyes widened as she realized her daughter was sobbing. "Lin what's wrong?" She asked putting her arm around her daughter.
Lin buried her face in her mother's neck and Toph wrapped her arms around her, trying to comfort her. She waited until Lin's crying had slowed before asking her what was wrong again.
"T-Tenzin cheated on me," Lin stammered through rough breathing.
"WHAT!" her mother yelled, outraged someone would do that to her daughter. "You kicked his ass right!"
Lin shook her head. "I punched a couple walls and they broke."
Toph shook her head, knowing her daughter must be really hurting if she hadn't thrown some rocks at him. "I'm sorry," Toph finally said. "If it makes you feel better he's an idiot for letting you go."
Lin shrugged pulling away and wiping her face of the tears. "I never wanna see him again," Lin growled, "I wish I could just pull an Avatar Kyoshi and turn that stupid air temple onto an island so he's stuck there."
Toph smirked. "Who says we can't?"
