"Lin wait up!" Bumi called from behind Lin. She stopped and turned to face the taller boy. "Can I ask you something real quick?"
"You just did," Lin said sarcastically, slinging her gym bag over her shoulder.
Bumi rolled his eyes, "Ha-Ha, well can ask you a few questions then."
Lin snickered, "Sure what's up?"
Suddenly Bumi seemed slightly uncomfortable like he was gonna ask something that was weird for him. "Well, Uhm, just as a friend you know and a caring brother, I was just wondering how you felt about Tenzin?"
Lin raided an eyebrow remembering the dinner the night before. "Well, he's my best friend?" She answered uncertain that was the answer he was looking for.
He sighed and rolled his eyes, "No like in a romantic way."
Lin's eyes widened, "Oh, uh, I don't know Bumi why?" She felt herself blushing as she scratched the back of her head trying to avoid eye contact.
"I'm just wondering cause you two seem to have a real connection you know," he said wiggling his eyebrows at the younger girl.
"Yeah I guess," Lin answered, not really knowing what to say. The truth was she did like Tenzin, she had for a while but talking about it with his brother was a bit awkward.
Bumi smiled mischievously, "Oh you like him I can tell!"
"Whatever," Lin snapped turning away from him. "Just don't tell the airhead alright."
Bumi did some sort of a happy dance and went skipping away in the opposite direction. She slapped her forehead realizing she had just told her best friend and crush's brother that she liked him, which meant he was going to find out for sure. Great, that's great.
"You good Lin?" Kya asked as she walked into the changing room.
Lin snapped her attention from the floor and her thoughts to the water bender that she had just about ran straight into. "Oh yeah, sorry just, erm, distracted."
"What's on your mind?" She asked changing into her gym clothes.
"Oh nothing important," Lin tried to play it off. The last thing she needed to do was go and tell Tenzin's sister as well. She pulled off her shirt and scrambled in her bag for her tank top. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught Kya staring at her but then quickly looking away. She didn't think much of it, and frankly, she didn't care.
"The lesbians checking out the freshie, why does it not surprise me?" Hana snarled, slamming her locker closed.
Lin sat up clutching her tank top in her hands. "What's your problem? Did a wolf bat climb into your ass or something?" Lin said narrowing her eyes menacingly.
"How are you okay with her just standing there watching you change?"
"I wasn't watching her change," Kya argued though there was a small blush on her cheeks.
Lin rolled her eyes, "Even if she was I couldn't give a shit."
"So you're fine with a lesbian checking you out while you're half-naked?" Alix interjected.
"I'm standing here without a shirt on and I've seen both of you looking me up and down. Does that mean you two are gay too?" Lin smirked. "I mean I totally understand why you'd check me out, but don't you think that's a little fruity?"
They both looked to be at a loss for words for a second before finally, Hana said, "I wasn't checking you out, I was just thinking that you're built like a man."
"You were still looking though," Lin smirked.
"Your just jealous Lin has abs while you guys are having to buy waist trainers and corsets to get your stomach flat," Kya snickered.
The girls scoffed. "Yeah whatever, you two freaks have your fun," Alix stated as they walked out of the changing room.
Lin grunted in frustration finally pulling her tank top over her head. She was already wearing sweat pants so she didn't bother changing her bottoms.
"I really hope we do something today that means I can hit them in the head with a rock or two," Lin growled, slamming the locker shut and turning to walk out of the changing room. She noticed the few girls who were still in there were all staring at her. "Did you enjoy the show?" Lin mocked, rolling her eyes and stomping out dramatically.

Kya watched as Lin shoved the door open roughly and stomped out into the gym. She's been really grateful for Lin ever since she transferred to this class because not only does she always have a partner, but she's one of the only people that will stand up for her. And when she does it's more than the "Hey leave her alone" her little brother Tenzin always does. She seems like she really cares what people are saying and can't stand people treating Kya that way. She just assumed that she got so upset since they had basically grown up together, and she just had a bit of a hothead.
"Alright class, today we're gonna go outside and run a mile then do the workout I have on this board, which I will bring out with us. And before you ask, yes you can walk it but you better walk fast," Coach Chang said to everyone. "Grab a partner, and grab some weights from the shelf and bring them out with you."
Kya rolled her eyes, "I hate pointless running."
"It's not so bad," Lin shrugged, "Not something I'd choose to do but I can think of worse things to do."
"Oh yeah like what?" Kya asked, grabbing the 5-pound weights off the shelf while Lin grabbed the heaviest which was 30.
"Go shopping with my little sister, she's a menace and I always somehow looser her," Lin chuckled.
"Oh I'm sure you're able to find her pretty easily with the whole seeing with your feet thing," Kya replied.
Lin shrugged, "that does come in handy."
"I'm gonna jog or walk most of it, you can go ahead and run it if you want to though," Kya said as they started on the track.
"Alright, I'll find you after," Lin said as she started running away. Kya couldn't help but admire Lin's back and shoulder muscles as she ran away from her, passing almost everyone without even breaking a sweat yet.
It took Lin barely 5 minutes to run the mile and then she caught up with Kya who slowly jogging, still having half a mile to go.
"Hey slow-poke," she smirked as she slowed her pace to stay next to Kya.
"Not everyone can run a mile in 5 minutes," Kya panted, not understanding how Lin seemed to barely be out of breath.
Lin smiled at her causing her stomach to flutter a little, which she scolded herself for. She could not start developing a crush on Lin Beifong. For starters, her brother had a crush on her, and not to mention she was most likely straight.
"You build up a lot of stamina when you grow up with Toph Beifong as your mom," Lin joked.
"Lin I thought you had just told me you finished the mile?" Coach Chang called to her when they were passing.
"Yeah I did, just gonna do another half with my partner," Lin responded.
Coach Chang chuckled, "I think your my only student ever who has voluntarily done more than I asked."
"It's a talent of mine," Lin joked.
"You're just an overachiever," Kya teased.
"Am not!" Lin argued.
Kya shook her head at Lin and then slowed her pace to a walk and Lin did the same.
"I'm waking the rest of this, I can't run another minute," Kya panted trying to catch her breath.
Lin snickered, "Maybe your just an underachiever."
"In this class, yes," Kya answered wiping the sweat off her forehead. "Who said we should go outside when it's this hot, I'm sweating so much."
"It could be worse," Lin shrugged. "It could be even hotter," Lin added when Kya gave her a quizzical look.
