Chapter 21

"I'm not gonna hurt you I promise," Lin chuckled as she got in a horse stance.
"Don't take it easy on me though just cause Im your girlfriend, but also don't break anything," Kya added as she bent a stream of water around her.
Lin rolled her eyes. "Yes I'm going to break your legs, because I'm such a wonderful girlfriend."
"Hey hey, accidents happen."
"Whatever, just start. I'll be nice and give you the first blow this time," Lin half smiled.
Kya wasted no time in whipping the water towards Lin, who blocked it with a small wall of earth. She continued blocking Kyas blasts of until finally she stuck back sending a medium sized rock flying towards her. Kya easily dodged it sending shards of ice flying at Lin. Lin slapped them out of the air and sent a few small rocks flying towards Kya who used some water to fling them to the side of her.
"What is going on out here!" Tenzin yelled as he came running out of the temple.
Lin sent a rock flying at Kya and Tenzin jumped in front blasting it back at Lin who broke it with her forearm.
"Hey, this is a 1 on 1 your not invited," Lin snapped sarcastically.
"Well I had to make sure you weren't attacking my sister," Tenzin sneered.
"What do you care? You've been ignoring me for the past month," Kya scoffed at her brother putting both her hands on her hips.
"I may be mad at you but your still my sister," Tenzin stammered crossing his arms. "I'm not gonna watch you get hurt."
"You really think I'm going to hurt her?" Lin snarled.
"You are quite unpredictable," Tenzin said narrowing his eyes at her.
Lin glared back at him. "That may be true, but that doesn't mean I'd go and attack my girlfriend," she said putting direct emphasis on girlfriend knowing that it would bother Tenzin. She was correct because she got the exact reaction she was hoping for. Tenzins face dropped.
"Well I'm with Pema now," he finally said trying to shake off the previous emotions he had been showing.
"That's not new to me, you were already together before we were apart. Remember?"
Tenzin grunted. "Whatever," he said turning to walk away. "At least my relationship isn't just out of pity."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Kya snapped.
"You just felt bad for Lin, and Lin loves having her ego fed and you did exactly that. We all know this relationship won't last."
"Not that I owe you any explanation but I liked Lin before you two even had started dating," Kya snapped, flicking her eyebrow up in frustration.
"Really?" Lin asked before she could even stop herself. "I mean yeah so it's not a pity relationship."
"Notice how your not denying that you like having your ego fed," Tenzin pointed out.
"Didn't think I really needed too because it's such a fucking idiotic thing to say so I didn't feel a need."
"You think that just because your a half way decent bender your all important, but news flash your not. Your only dating Kya because she feeds your massive ego," Tenzin remarked.
"Just because your egos so fragile that anyone with any form of confidence intimidated you doesn't mean you have to take out on Lin," Kya argued.
"I honestly don't give a fuck what you have to say about me," Lin snarled. "We both know your just jealous now that you've realized what you've lost."
"What i've lost? A arrogant, abrasive, confrontational girl that thinks she can do whatever she wants just because she's related to Chief Beifong?" Tenzin scoffed. "I don't see what I'm missing."
"Someone who made you less of a stick in the mud?" Kya interjected.
"If that's how you felt about me why did you date me for over a year after also being my best friend for basically our whole lives?" Lin pointed out. "You have a hole in your story asshole."
"Yeah whatever, at least I'm not so desperate for validation that I'll go crawling to the first person who gives me any sort of attention," Tenzin advertised.
"What's going on out here?" Katara said walking out side.
"I really don't give a fuck about what you think of me," Lin sneered with curled lip. "I don't know what I ever saw in you."
"Shes better without you," Kya added. "I'll treat her better than you ever did." Lin and Kya headed around the back of the air temple.
"Yeah whatever," Tenzin said rolling his eyes.
"Is everything alright?" Aang said walking out and next to his wife.
"I don't know," Katara said with furrowed eyebrows.
"I'll go talk to Lin and Kya, you talk to Tenzin."
Katara who had been almost directly behind them still found Lin punching a tree and cussing loudly.
"That fucking asshole! He really thinks he gets an opinion on our relationship after he cheated on me? He ignored you all month after he found out we were together and then suddenly he thinks he gets to come and tell me Im so arrogant and narcissistic like I give a shit what he thinks!" Lin ranted.
Kya caught a glimpse of her mother standing watching the scene. "Hey mom," she said.
Lin stopped punching and throwing rocks at the poor tree that she was pretending was Tenzin. "Hi," she added.
"What the flameo happened over there?" Katara asked sitting down next to her daughter.
"Your sons an asshole," Lin said in a hard voice.
"What she said," Kya added. "He cheated on Lin and then suddenly thinks he get to have an opinion on Lin and I's relationship. And he was saying how Lin's so arrogant and shit when he's the one that was so close to her for years."
Katara furrowed her eyebrows. "That doesn't sound like something Tenzin would say."
"Yeah, well he did," Lin grumbled.
"He was trying to say the only reason she's dating me is because I feed her ego, and I'm only dating her out of pity," Kya informed her mother.
"It sounds like he's really struggling with this breakup," Katara noted.
"He's the one that cheated on me," Lin remarked.
"Yes, well he might be realising that he loves you more than Pema."
"Well he's a little late."
"Yes he is, I'm not trying to say his actions were okay i'm just trying to tell you how he may be feeling," Katara explained.
Lin huffed. "Well I don't care how he feels," she scoffed as she started to stand up. "I should probably head home anyways. I told Su I'd be back soon so I could help her work on her bending."
Kya looked disappointed but did know that Lin had indeed promised her sister that, so at least she wasn't making something up.
"Okay, Kya can take you home on Appa," Katara said standing up and walking back towards the house.
"Here Appa should be over there with the other Bison," Kya said as she led Lin over to the heard of Bisons.
