"Lin!" Kya called down the hall as the final bell rang.
Lin paused and turned to see who was calling her name. When she finally locked eyes with Kya she turned a light pink shade and stepped aside so the other students could pass as she waited for Kya to catch up. "Hi," Kya smiled.
"Hey," Lin answered.
Kya had almost forgotten what she had wanted to ask her as she stared into the earth benders eyes. "Do you want to go to dinner with me tonight?" Kya finally asked.
Lin's eyes widened as she raised an eyebrow. "Like a date or?" She trailed off.
"Like a date."
Lin bit her lip in attempt to hide a grin. "Sure," she finally answered.
Kya grinned in excitement, "Alright i'll pick you up at 8!"
"Oh, we're going on a date date," Lin smirked.
"Yes, I'm taking you a real date."
"Fine by me, I'll see you at 8."Lin had no idea what she was supposed to wear. She refused to wear a dress, she did that once with Tenzin and she vowed to never do it again. She also had no idea where they were going so she didn't know how formal to be. Finally she decided she would rather be underdressed than over dressed, knowing full well that made her sound crazy. She decided on dark green blazer with matching pants and a black tshirt. Her thought process was she could take the blazer off and be more casual or leave it on and be more formal.
"Why are you so facy?" Su asked as Lin walked down stairs and to the living room.
"I'm going out," Lin answered shortly.
"Where you going?" Toph asked turning down the radio.
"I actaully don't know, Kya just told me she'd be here at 8," Lin answered, trying to sound as casual as possible. "I just decided I wanted to dress up tonight."
Toph shrugged, "She's here by the way, just came though gate."
Lin hurried out the front door and met Kya on the porch. She felt her jaw drop a little when she saw Kya. She was wearing a long blue dress and had her hair done in a braid with silver clips.
"You look," Lin searched for a word, "Beautiful."
Kya blushed and smile at her, feeling just as astonished. "You clean up nice," she teased.
Lin rolled her eyes, "Thanks," she smiled.
"You look amazing," Kya said softly moving to kiss Lin.
"Not here," Lin said putting a hand out. Kya looked at her in confusion. "My mom will see," she said when she noticed Kyas confusion.
"Oh yeah," Kya chuckled. "Well let's go."
"Where are we going?" Lin asked as they walked off the property.
"You'll see, just follow me."
Lin shrugged and to Kyas surprise grabbed her hand. Up until now Lin had only showed any affection in private where no one could see so no one would know about them. Kya figured it would take longer than a week for Lin to start being more comfortable with it but here they were.
Out of the corner of her eye Kya caught Lin staring at her, she turned to face her. "Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked trying to suppress a smile.
Lin quickly turned away again. "Oh sorry," she stuttered feeling embarrassed for getting caught staring.
Kya chuckled and pulled her self closer to Lin so that she could hold onto Lin's arm. She was really happy that she was able to show that Lin was hers out in public now.
As Kya started to pull Lin into Kuans cuisine Lin stopped. "Are we actually going here?" she asked with wide eyes.
"Yes we are," Kya grinned proudly.
Lin scoffed. "I haven't came here in years," she added as they walked through the doors.
Kya had made them a reservation so they were sat immediately.
"Can I start you girls off with anything to drink?" The waiter asked.
"Just water please," Kya and Lin both said in almost unison.
"Jinx," Kya chuckled.
The waiter brought them their waters and took their orders.
Lin noticed Kya just leaning on her hand staring at her. "Your staring," she smirked and Kya turned away quickly.
"Oops," Kya blushed, "Caught red handed."
"You caught me earlier so that was just karma."
"I guess so," Kya smiled, "I just can't help it but stare at you."
Lin rolled her eyes, "Don't get all mushy on me already."
"Sorry, oogies," Kya shrugged playfully.
Lin furrowed her eyebrows "Oogies?" she asked laughing slightly.
"My uncle Sokka says it all the time."
"Does Sokka just make words up all the time?" Lin chuckled.
"Yeah pretty much," Kya answered.
The food came and they ate making light conversation and having an overall great time. That is until it was ruined.
"Well well, look who's here," Haiko smirked as he saw Kaya sitting at the booth. His cocky air quickly vanished when he noticed he was sitting with Lin but he quickly retained it. "Out on a little date I see? Should have known you were a faggot too, no normal girl looks like that."
Lin raised a menacing eyebrow. "Looks like what?" she sneered, not really looking for an answer.
"Your wearing a suit right now," he scoffed. "And any normal girl would know that no guy wants a girl who's as bulky as you are."
"Your just insecure that Lin has bigger muscles than you do," Kya snapped.
Lin noticed the wavering confidence in Kyas voice. "I didn't ask for opinion, so I think it's time you walk away," she growled.
"What are you gonna do about it?" Haiko said, curling his lip. Lin stood up.
"Lin don't," Kya interrupted, "Just don't engage and he'll leave us alone eventually."
Lin took a deep breath and sat back down. "Just leave us alone," she finally snapped.
"I knew you were too pussy to do anything outside of a competition," Haiko smirked.
"If you wanna wait outside and see how much of a pussy I am then be my guest," she snarled, locking eyes with him.
"I think I will," he said turning and walking away.
Kya released a breath she didn't know she was holding. "I hate that guy," she said.
"Me too," Lin growled, still clenching her jaw. Kya could see the muscles in Lin's neck twitch. She put her hand over Lin's and rubbed cirlcels on the back of her hand to try and calm her down. It seemed to work a little but not as much as she had hoped.
"Just breath love, I'm sure he's just bluffing and isn't really waiting outside," Kya assured her.
Lin's eyebrow twitched up. "I hope he is so I can beat his ass without all the rules."
"No you don't, you could get arrested," Kya said sternly.
"Not if he starts it," Lin smirked cockily. Kya moved so she was on the same side of the booth as Lin and put her hand on her thigh.
"We'll just go out the back door," Kya decided, not wanting to chance a fight.
"If that's what you want," Lin sighed, sounding disappointed.
"Thank you," Kya said kissing her on the cheek.
Lin smiled at her and kissed her on the lips. "Your welcome."They finished eating and started to head out of the restaurant from the back.
"I'll walk you home," Lin said to Kya.
"Alright," Kya answered linking her arm with Lin's. As they were getting closer to the docks Lin pulled Kya to turn on a street that was quite obviously not the way to air temple island.
"What are you doing?" Kya asked trying to pull her the correct way.
"There's a group of people following us," Lin said in a quiet voice. "I'm just checking if I'm right or not so we're going around the block."
Kya took a sharp intake of breath. "How do you know? You haven't been looking back."
"I can feel them," Lin answered. They walked there way around the block and Lin's suspicion was confirmed. "Yep they are following us."
"Well since I live on an island now thanks to you it's not like they can follow us to my house. You can just stay at my house tonight, i'm sure your mom would understand."
"She wouldn't care, but Im not gonna just let them follow us," Lin said like it was obvious.
"Your not approaching a group of people who have been following us!"
"Why not?"
"You could get hurt," Kya snapped, "I'm not gonna let you do that!"
Lin rolled her eyes, "I think I can handle a few guys."
"I don't care," Kya scolded. "We're going to my house and your not leaving until tomorrow."
"Fine," Lin sighed dramatically. They walked to the shore and Kya blew the whistle for the sky bison to come and get them. Lin tried to get a look at the people following them but could tell who they were from that distance.
"Why do you think those people were following us?" Kya asked as they clambered off the bison.
"I don't know," Lin answered. "But someone following you on never a good thing."
