Lin spent the next few days doing everything she could to avoid Kya. Its not that she didn't want to see her, because she did, but that was the problem. She still didn't know how she felt about the kiss, that's a lie, she did. She was just trying to convince herself that she only liked it because shes not in the right head space. She had no problem with Kya being gay, but Lin wasn't gay. She's always liked boys, well Tenzins really the only person she's ever had a crush on but that doesn't change the fact that she's straight.
"Lin!" Kya exclaimed as Lin walked into the changing rooms a few minutes late. Kya had realized that Lin must have been just waiting for the bell to ring so she knew Kya would be in class and then coming in to change so she could avoid Kya. Then she'd talk to coach Chang until the bell rang again and then she's go get changed again. So today Kya decided to just wait for her, and hope that if she went to class with Lin Coach Chang wouldn't yell at her.
"Oh hey Kya," Lin said trying not to sound upset that she was there. She really did want Kya to think she was upset with her, because it had nothing to do with Kya and everything to do with Lin.
"You've been avoiding me?" Kya said as more of a question.
Lin froze, not knowing what to say. "No? I guess we just haven't seen each other."
Kya crossed her arms. "Lin, Im not stupid I know when someone is avoiding me."
Lin shrugged, "Well your wrong, Im not avoiding you. I mean Im talking to you right now?"
Kya noticed that all of Lin's usual confidence and her usual cocky tone was gone.
"We have to talk about it eventually," Kya finally said, just getting straight to the point.
She noticed every muscle in Lin's body tense. "About what?" Lin asked stupidly, mentally slapping herself. She hated how suddenly Kya had such an effect on her that she became a blubbering idiot.
Kya rolled her eyes and stepped closer to Lin. "The kiss."
Lin gulped. "Oh yeah that," she stammered. "What about it?"
Kya grabbed Lin's chin and forced her to look her in the eyes. "If you mad that I kissed you can just tell me?" she asked.
"I'm not mad," Lin answered taking a deep breath. "You just threw me off guard."
"I can tell," Kya snickered. She couldn't help but love the effect she had on Lin. "But now your avoiding me, so you either liked it and that confused you or you hated it and are too nice to tell me."
Lin tore her eyes away from Kya. "I didn't mean to avoid you, it just happened."
"But why?" Kya asked, sounding exasperated. She just wished Lin would be straight forward with her, she's never had a problem with being blunt before so what's the problem now. "Can you please just be blunt with me?"
Lin flicked her tongue over her top lip. "We're late for class," she said and started to try and walk away but Kya put her hand out to stop her.
"I don't care, this is the first time I've managed to get you alone to talk."
"What is there to talk about?" Lin snapped. "We kissed and now I don't know how to act around you okay?"
Kyas face dropped, she couldn't tell if that was a good sign or a bad. "Because you don't like me like that?" she asked.
"No!" Lin sighed and buried her face in her hands. "I do and that's the problem."
Kya couldn't help but smile. "Why is that a problem?"
Lin thought for a moment over how to phrase this. "Well for starters I just got out of a relationship with your brother, and second I'm not gay. Or i don't think I am," Lin stuttered over her last words.
"Well you should be worried about Tenzin, he's the one that cheated on you so I don't think you should be worrying about his feelings. And second, you know you can like girls and guys right?"
Lin thought for a second, "Don't you care about his feelings though? I mean you live with him."
"He'll get over it."
Lin shrugged, "Maybe. But we should get to class."
"No we're gonna finish this conversation," Kya demanded grabbing Lin by the wrist.
"What else is there to say!" Lin snapped, clearly getting frustrated but Kya didn't care.
"Do you like me or not? Because I need to know so I can either leave you alone or not," Kya asked.
Lin pursed her lips. "I don't know, okay? I'm sorry I'm just confused."
Before Kya could even think about it she grabbed Lin's face and pulled her in for a kiss. Lin melted into it, grabbing Kyas waist and pulling her closer. Kya wrapped her arms around Lin's neck. She felt her self smiling as Lin actually kissed her back. When they finally pulled away Kya was smiling like an idiot and Lin was trying to hide hers.
"Still confused or do I need to kiss you again?" Kya smirked, a blush forming on Lin's cheeks.
"I mean I wouldn't complain," she said as Kya met her lips again.
"We should really get to class now," Lin finally said.
Kya pouted. "Do we have too?"
Lin smirked. "Yes we do, come on."
"Why are you two so late?" Coach Chang scolded as they walked into the gym.
"Girl problems," Lin answered before Kya could.
"Oh," Coach Chang said awkwardly. "We'll just join your usual group. Lin please lead them."
"Of coarse," Lin said with a polite bow.
"Of coarse you can just show up whenever you want without any repercussion, Coach wouldn't want to punish his star student," Alix said rolling her eyes.
"Maybe train a little more and you'll get the same luxury. Are we just passing that rock around over our heads?" Lin asked looking at the fairly large rock they all seemed to be throwing around.
"It's a game, you pass the rock around and across the circle trying to get them to drop it and every time someone drops it they have to do ten push ups," a guy informed her.
"Has anyone actually dropped that though? It can't be that heavy," Lin asked.
"I have," a small girl squeaked.
"Well I was told to lead and if we wanna actually get anything out of this we should use a bigger and heavier rock," she grabbed a stack of disks and added them to the rock and whoever had been holding it up dropped it.
"Why so heavy," he grumbled, "You could have at least warned me."
"I literally added maybe 5 pounds," Lin scoffed.
"Felt like 15," he growled as he dropped and started doing his pushups.
"How heavy can it be?" Alix snickered as she lifted the rock. "Yeah you added a lot more than 5 pounds," she huffed, though she was clearly trying not to let one that it was a little too heavy for her. She threw it across the circle to one of her friends, Sung.
She groaned under the weight and passed it to the girl next to her who tried to pass it along but dropped it on someone's foot.
"Sorry," she grimaced.
Lin picked up the rock with ease and threw it across the circle hard at Alix. It smashed into her and knocked her to the ground.
"You did that on purpose!" Alix growled.
"Is that not the point of this game?" Lin smirked.
"It is," someone chimes in.
"Your gonna pay for that!" Alix growled breaking the rock in half and launching the smaller piece at Lin.
Lin put her arm up and the rock crumbled around her. She knew if she fought back she could get in trouble so unless she threw another blow Lin was just gonna take it.
"That was just pathetic," Lin mocked, secretly hoping to have a reason to fight back.
"You wanna see pathetic?" Alix sneered. She stomped and a rock came up and then went flying at Lin who once again blocked it easily. Alix attacked again and this time Lin fought back. She sent the rock back at Alix too quickly for her reflexes so it smashed into her and sent her flying into the wall. Groaning in pain Alix trying to stand up but Lin pinned her to the ground.
"What in the monkey feathers!" Coach Chang exclaimed. "Alix! You will see me in my office now, class is dismissed."
