"This is the end of the year school-wide tournament," Principal Hanako announced, her voice echoing through the field. Everyone cheered so loudly that the microphone on the stage actually picked it up causing the speakers to screech loudly. "Today all our students will be competing for a wide variety of challenges that will not only test your strength and ability to perform those tasks but your strategy."
"You better win a bunch of medals today," Toph said elbowing Lin in the side. "I didnt raise no lily-livered weakling."
"I already signed up for like 5 challenges out of the 9, don't you worry," Lin said smiling greedily. Its no secret that Lin is extremely competitive, so she signed up for every challenge that she could.
"Good girl," Toph said patting her on the back.
"Did you sign up for anything Tenzin?" Aang asked.
"Yeah, I signed up for a few. They even let me sign up for the sparring!" Tenzin said excitedly.
"You'll beat them all honey," Katara gloated.
"Don't be too sure, he's gonna have to face off against me," Lin smirked.
"I've beaten you before and I plan on doing it again," Tenzin teased sticking his tongue out at his girlfriend.
"Oh this is going to be interesting," Kya chuckled.
"Did either of you sign up for the non-bending fight?" Bumi asked them all.
"I did," Lin gleamed, looking to her mother for approval which only slightly came in the form of a thumbs up and half-smile.
"Well, I'm gonna beat you in that!" Bumi said confidently. "I learned from my Uncle Sokka."
"We all did dunderhead," Tenzin teased, "Even Lin."
Bumis face dropped, "Oh right."
They all laughed at Bumi's realization.
"So I wouldn't be so sure Bumi, I think it'll be a pretty fair fight," Lin said.
"What's the schedule for all the challenges?" Toph asked.
Katara pulled a piece of paper with the schedule on it out of her pocket and handed it to Toph. "Here Toph," She said.
Toph took the piece of paper like she had no idea what she was supposed to be doing with it, which she didn't. "Yes thank you, Katara, give the blind woman the schedule to read," Toph said sarcastically.
"Oh right," Katara blushed taking the paperback, "Sorry."
She read the piece of paper to Toph.
1) Ball and chain throw
2) Heavy lifting
3) Speed race
4) Archery
5) Sculture building- Eath benders
6) Ice sculpture- Water benders
7) Metal cut-Fire benders
8) Non-bending fight
9) Bending fight
"I'm just not doing the ball and chain or the archery one," Lin told her mother.
"I'm doing them!" Bumi exclaimed.
Everyone looked at him in confusion. "You don't do archery," Katara pointed out to her son.
"Yeah but how hard can it be?" Bumi shrugged.
"Pretty hard," Kya and Tenzin guessed, laughing when they realized they said the same thing.
