chapter 9

3 months later

AMELIA POV
Today is the day of the trial, my lawyer and I agreed and she told me that I had to testify against Link to make sure he went to jail so I have to tell the judge everything he did to me and I'm afraid to see Link again and I'm especially afraid that if I tell this story again the nightmares will come back.
But for the last 3 months I've been doing well, with Owen we found a way for Leo's custody so I have Leo in my home 3 or 4 days a week and Owen spends a lot of time at my house, He was able to get closer to Liam which was cute I was pulled out of my thoughts by Owen who enters the living room and hands me a coffee
"Thanks," I said while staring at my feet
"Hey it's going to be okay and don't forget that he can't do anything to you anymore, I won't let anyone touch you" he said
I looked at him and I was impressed even after all these years he could still see when I was not ok.
I needed him today, well I need him for the rest of my life but this is not possible, I looked at him and I hesitated but I asked him anyway
"Can you hold me?
"Of course, come here! "he said and opened his arms for me
I went forward and he took me in his arms, after that I felt good, being in his arms has always soothed me and I feel safe, after a few minutes we broke the hug and I said "thank you, that felt good" he looked me straight in the eyes and he smiled at me, we were so close that I thought of only one thing and that was to kiss him, but I knew that it was not the right thing to do, at least not now.
After a small discussion we got into the car, the trip was done in silence.
After 20 minutes of driving we entered the court where they found Meredith, Maggie, Richard, Bailey, Jackson, April and Alex.
I sat next to Owen and we waited for Link,after a few minutes he came in and I didn't even have the courage to look at him and I start to have a panic attack and Owen noticed it so he grabbed my hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
The trial went all day after more than 5 hours the judge was finally going to give his verdict while we were waiting to be called back to the room we were all in the waiting room and I couldn't help but stare at Owen
"Hey you know if you keep staring at him like that he's going to notice eventually" Alex said
"I don't stare at him" I said
"Stop lying to yourself" Meredith said
"Okay so yeah maybe I am staring and then what's the problem? "I said
"the only problem is that you're wasting time" Maggie said as she joined the conversation
"What are you guys are talking about ?" I asked
"YOU TWO ARE THE MOST STUPID PEOPLE I'VE EVER KNOWN GOD! "Alex said
"ALEX STOP IT! "Meredith said and hit him on the shoulder
"No I won't stop, they are both madly in love with each other and they are too scared to tell each other or maybe they haven't realized it yet and if I can make them open their eyes well I will" he said. I didn't known what to say so I just turned around and saw that Owen was behind me so he had heard the whole conversation I was embarrassed and didn't know what to do, I felt like I was blushing so I sat down and turned on my phone.
Then it was time for the verdict and we returned to the room and the judge began to speak
"By the court of law today we find Atticus Lincoln guilty of domestic violence and will be sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment and is no longer allowed to approach the victim Amelia Shepherd and also the victim's son Liam Shepherd" the judge said and the police brought Link back to jail, I was relieved, he could never hurt me again, I was now safe. I walked out of the courtroom and ran outside, it was raining hard but it didn't stop me.

OWEN POV
I was so happy for Amelia she could finally live again. We walked out of the courtroom but Amelia was not in the waiting room "where is she ?" Meredith asked and then I realized it was raining and remembered how much she loved the rain I looked at Meredith and said "I know where she is, you can go home I'll bring her back later"
I was leaving but she grabbed my arm
"Owen do you remember when Cristina asked me to look after you" she asked
"yes why ? " I asked
"listen to me! I know you love her and she loves you too,so don't waste time, I did it with Derek I thought too much, we had too much quarrel and in the end he died before we could finish our story and believe me that you and amelia are meant to be together, you want her so go get her !! " she said with a big smile on your face
I smiled and hugged her to say thank you and then I run outside to get her back
