Chapter Five:
~Kellin's P.O.V. ~
The walk home that day was strangely quiet. Then again, maybe I found it so peaceful because I hadn't had the shit kicked out of me after school. Today had been...alright in the long run. I was over that thing that happened at lunch, even though it still stung a tiny bit. I just don't see why I'm always the one being picked on. But maybe that's just my purpose in High School.
When I got home, no one was there. On the fridge there was a note from mom, saying that she and dad were out at some business thing. Of course they left me behind, they always do. I sighed and opened the fridge, looking for something to snack on while I did my homework. I skipped dinner last night and breakfast and lunch today, so I was pretty hungry.
I grabbed an apple and a water and walked up stairs, starting my usual boring routine. I was halfway through my stupid Calculus homework when my phone rang beside me. I raised an eyebrow and picked it up. Huh, unfamiliar number. Wonder who it is? I decided against my better judgment and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Vic."
My heart skipped a beat and I swear I almost passed out then and there. Why would he be calling me? Doesn't he have better things to do then make small talk with a loser like me?
"Not really, my friends are all at this stupid party." He said.
Oh shit, I must have said that out loud.
"That's funny, I-I pegged you as the type who liked to party." I stuttered nervously.
He laughed on the other end of the phone, making my cheeks heat up. Dammit, is my crush so major that just his laugh can make me blush?
"Well, I usually am. But I wasn't feeling in the 'partying mood' tonight. Anyways, I called to ask if maybe I could come over. We could work on our project, and maybe even watch a movie or two?"
Holy shit. Vic- f.ucking -Fuentes wanted to come to my house. This is-! Wait. This is too good to be true. What if...what if he's just tricking me? What if he's actually going to show up with a bunch of his jock friends and beat the hell out of me? Oh God, how could I be so stupid!
"Uh, I don't think so." I said quickly.
"Why not?" he asked, sounding slightly disappointed.
"How do I know that you won't show up with a bunch of your friends and beat the hell out of me?"
"You think I'd do that?" he asked, sounding a bit shocked.
"Well I certainly wouldn't put it beneath you." I scoffed.
He sighed.
"Look, I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to make up for what I did today and maybe even...become friends?"
I paused, taking it all in. What's the harm, right? Even if he does show up with a bunch of jocks, all it would take was one press of a button and our security would be on their asses immediately. And maybe he's genuinely just...being nice. I don't want to be an asshole and turn him down.
"Alright, fine. I'll text you my address, okay? Just...you promise you won't hurt me right?"
"I promise." He said sincerely.
I let out a breath of relief and said a quick goodbye as I hung up the phone. I quickly texted him my address and then rushed around my room to tidy up. Not that there was much to fix, I usually kept my room pretty clean. I also decided to take a shower because, why the hell not right? Might as well go all out.
