Chapter Seven:
~Kellin's P.O.V. ~
I shoved past dozens of people in the hallways, trying to get to the cafeteria. Everyone was being stupid today, or maybe I was just irritated.
This morning had thrown me off. I didn't expect Vic to ask what happened or even seem to care as much as he did, so I was pretty damn confused to say the least. And on top of that, I'd been laughed at all day for the bruise on my cheek. Apparently one of the guys on the football team, Craig, was running around bragging that he had kicked my ass yesterday after school. I didn't feel like arguing with everyone and I didn't have a way to prove him wrong, so I just went with it and saved myself the trouble.
I walked into the cafeteria, after about ten minutes of shoving a.ssholes out of my way, and sat at my usual table in the back. I was on edge today, just waiting for Vic to come up behind me and pour milk over my head or something like that. I know he meant well with this whole 'trying to be friends' thing but honestly it was just making me nervous. I kept waiting for him to pop out like 'surprise! You're still a fucking loser and I hate you!'
"Hey Kellin!"
I jumped and spun around, relaxing a little once I realized it was Vic. Speak of the Devil and he shall appear...
"Hey Vic..." I mumbled.
He frowned and sat next to me.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
I shrugged and doodled on my notebook. Today was just...a bad day. I was really irritated, I was on edge, people were getting on my nerves, and my face hurts like a b.itch.
"Well okay then..." Vic chuckled.
I blushed once I realized that I had said everything out loud. I seriously need to work on not doing that.
"Sorry, didn't mean to babble." I said, running a hand through my hair.
"No, no, it's fine. I understand, I think we all have those kinds of days every once and a while." He assured.
I gave him a weak smile and turned back to doodling on my notebook. I saw him look over towards his table and one of the guys, Jaime I think, smirked at Vic and winked. Then he looked back and forth between us and crossed his arms over his chest with a smug expression on his face. I looked over to Vic and saw him roll his eyes, flipping him off playfully. I didn't like the looks Jaime was giving Vic...it was like they both knew something that I didn't.
I didn't have much time to think about it though because before I knew it the bell had rung and everyone was rushing out of the cafeteria, including Vic. He ran straight to Jaime and slapped him upside the head as they briskly walked out, two other guys following them. I think one of them is Vic's brother actually...
The rest of my classes went by pretty quickly and before I knew it I was about to walk home. But to my surprise, my dad's black sports car was parked out front. I quickly ran over and climbed in, praying that no one saw me. In the driver's seat was my dad and next to him was my mom, both dressed up pretty fancily.
"Uh, why did you guys pick me up?" I asked.
"We're going to a party for your father's company. There's clothes back there for you, hurry up and change." My mom said, fixing her lipstick in the mirror.
"In here? In the tiny backseat? You want me to-"
"Yes Kellin, now get on with it before we leave you here." My dad snapped.
So much for apologizing about yesterday. I quickly hurried to get dressed, not wanting my parents to see anything even though they weren't looking. Thankfully, the windows were tinted. God I can't believe they made me do that.
