Chapter Seventeen:

~Kellin's P.O.V. ~

I walked into the house and was met by an unsettling silence. It was the same silence I came home to everyday, but somehow this was so much more eerie...

"M-Mom? Dad?" I called out timidly.

I didn't hear a response. I walked upstairs and opened the door to my room to see that it was the same, but...my note was still sitting where I left it. Completely untouched and unmoved.

"They never even noticed I left..." I whispered to myself in disbelief.

I heard a knock on my door and spun around to see one of our housekeepers, Dana.

"Mr. Bostwick, your parents wanted me to inform you that they have gone on a business trip and won't be back until tomorrow night." She said.

I crunched up the note in my fist and threw it into the trash angrily.

"Thank you Dana." I said bitterly.

She noticed my anger and left hurriedly, shutting the door behind her. I knocked over my lamp angrily and it crashed to the floor, shattering. I plopped onto my bed and hung my head low, shaking my head.

I'm used to my parents ignoring me. But most parents would be at least a little worried if their child disappeared during dinner and never came back. But they didn't even check up on me...or maybe...

Maybe they just didn't care.

That thought was the one thing replaying in my mind over and over as I laid down and went to sleep.

---

I walked into school the next day, tired and irritated. People ignored me as usual and some made comments, but I just ignored them back. I wasn't in the mood. I was halfway down the hallway to third period when I was yanked into the boy's bathroom.

I turned around, prepared to curse somebody out.

"What the fu.ck is your-?"

I saw that it was only Vic and I stopped mid-sentence. He looked at me and frowned, looking confused.

"What's wrong Kells?" He asked, locking the door after making sure no one was here.

I sighed and shrugged.

"Is it about your parents?" he asked nervously.

I scoffed.

"They never even read the note, Vic. They never knew I was gone..." I said bitterly.

Vic's jaw dropped and he looked shocked.

"But...you were gone for almost two days Kellin! Surely they-"

"No Vic! You don't get it! They hate me, they don't care. I could die tomorrow and they wouldn't even know it!" I screamed, tears filling my eyes.

I let out a sob as the tears ran down my cheeks and Vic stepped forward, throwing his arms around me as he held me to his chest protectively.

"I-I'm worthless...my own parents don't even want me." I cried.

Vic held me at arm's length and made me look at him.

"Kellin Quinn, you listen to me. You are not worthless. And you're parents are a pathetic excuse for what parents are supposed to be like. Please, don't ever think about yourself like that. You're the closest thing to perfection in my eyes and I just wish you could realize that." He said, wiping my tears away with his thumb.

I sniffled and threw my arms around him, hugging him tightly. I don't think Vic realizes this, but he's my everything...he's my world right now.

"I don't think I'd be here right now if it wasn't for you Vic..." I whispered.
