Chapter Thirty:
~Kellin's P.O.V. ~
It's been a few days since me and Vic have gotten back together, and things have been better than ever.
Well, I can't really say that I guess. They aren't as 'care-free' as they were before. There's still that nagging distrust in the back of my mind, and I know that it will be there for a while. At least, until he proves to me that there will really be no more lies in our relationship.
I was happy as well because him and Oli had finally pushed their differences aside and decided to be civil with one another. I think Vic is still a little peeved by him, but I knew that was going to happen. But for once, I actually had a group of friends. And a large one at that!
Speaking of which, I had just finished hanging out with Ruby and Abby at the mall. They had dragged me to a few stores, even though I had been reluctant to tag along. Surprisingly though, I actually had fun. Most likely because they avoided all of the 'girly-girl' stores. Thank God.
I walked into my house and hung my jacket up, jogging upstairs to my room. I pushed open the door, and frowned when I walked in.
My dad's guitar was resting on my bed. But...that wasn't where I had left it. In fact, I hadn't moved it from its spot over by my closet since I had performed that song for Vic.
I walked over and picked it up, setting it back by the closet. But strangely enough, a note fell off of it. I picked it up and carefully read it, but by the time I finished I could hardly believe my eyes.
'Kellin, I'm sorry. I love you. Please look after your mother.'
I shakily dropped the note and ran out of my room and down the hall. I threw open my parent's door, stopping short when I saw what was inside.
Or rather...lack of.
Everything was gone. Most everything at least. Their closet was open, and all of my dad's clothes were gone along with his suitcase which he always kept in there as well. For the next twenty minutes, I practically tore their room apart looking for my dad's stuff. Where was he? Where'd he gone? Had he finally...left?
A sudden thought ran through my mind. Mom. She would know.
With that thought, I ran downstairs and into the kitchen. I saw my mother sitting at the table, staring into a cup of coffee. She looked...she looked terrible. She had bags under her eyes and she had obviously been crying excessively.
"Where is he?" I asked softly.
She shook her head and rolled her eyes cynically.
"You know that he's gone. He left you a note. Hell, that's more than he fucking left me and I was his wife. He didn't even care about you all that much..." She muttered bitterly.
Tears ran down my cheeks as I shook my head. No. I had just gotten on good terms with him. He couldn't have left...he couldn't have-
It all suddenly clicked. The way he had hugged me that day in my room...how he had given me his guitar...
He knew he was leaving. He knew that he wouldn't be coming back either. That's why it had felt like a goodbye. Because...
Because it was a goodbye.
"Why?" I whispered.
She lit a cigarette and scoffed.
"Why not? He hated it here. He hated you. I've been trying to get him to stay for months...but he made up his mind. It's your fault, you know. He left because of you. If you had never been born, then he would have stayed. I and he would have a happy marriage, and Kailey would still have a father. But you just had to ruin things, didn't you?"
