SUZY'S POV
"We're very sorry for what we did to you back then. Ayaw naming ipaako sa'yo ang responsibilidad sa pagtubos ng farm pero wala akong magawa. Buntis na'ko nun kay Marie and Don Carlos knows about it. Sana mapatawad mo rin si Papa, Suzy.. Halos hindi na siya mapalagay sa kahahanap sa'yo magmula nang umalis ka sa'tin."
I quickly blinked the tears in my eyes that were threatening to fall before I uttered an answer.
"Y-You should've told me the truth that time. Hindi ko sana kinailangan pang umalis noon."
"No. You did the right thing back then, Suz. Even Papa was grateful that you have left that time kaya kahit gustong-gusto ka na niyang makita, hinayaan ka na niya muna rito."
"Hinayaan?" I asked in confusion.
"Ibig mong sabihin matagal niyo ng alam na dito ako nakatira?"
She nodded and sent me a guilty smile.
"He wanted you to live the life that you've dreamt of. And now, malapit mo na ring matupad 'yon and we're so proud of you. Sana madalaw mo na siya sa'tin because I think he's very ill right now, Suz."
"Ill? May sakit si papa?" gulat na tanong ko rito as I hadn't expected to hear that news.
When she lightly nodded her head, my eyes suddenly heated up with tears. Quite surprised with all that news I've just heard now.
All this time, akala ko mali sila kaya naman ayokong makita man lang sila. But then now, malalaman ko nalang na mali pala ang lahat ng 'yon.
"Hindi niya sinasabi kung anong sakit niya kaya naman kinailangan ko agad na umuwi rito sa Pinas. We just came here last week from abroad at----"
"Abroad? What do you mean abroad?" I cut her off. Now becoming more surprised with what I've just found out today.
"To pay off our debt,of course. Isinuko na lamang ni papa ang farm natin, Suz. Para matigil na sa panggugulo si Don Carlos sa pamilya natin. Hindi ko pa naiisilang si Marie noon at kailangan ko siyang suportahan kahit papano, kaya kinailangan kong lumuwas abroad para magtrabaho."
Just hearing all that, hindi ko na napigilan ang mga luha ko at tuluyan na'kong naiyak rito.
Feeling so sorry and guilty for what they have been through pag-alis ko.
Kung alam ko lang sana kung anong totoo, then I would've never leave them that time.
I stared at her when I felt her held my hands with a hopeful smile.
"Umaasa ako sa'yo na aalagaan mong mabuti si Marie habang nandito siya, Suzy. I know she'd be safe here with you."
I sniffed before I answered.
"Bakit mo ba siya kailangang iwan la rito? Tiyak hahanap-hanapin ka ng anak mo kapag umalis ka nang hindi man lang siya kasama."
"No. Hindi pwede." Mabilis ng tanggi nito while firmly shaking her head.
"Mainit pa rin tayo sa mata ni Don Carlos at ayokong malagay sa panganib ang anak ko 'pag uwi ko. I'd rather leave her here with you kaysa madamay pa siya sa gulo."
Yes. She has a point. And that would be a very heartbreaking news kung malalaman kong may nangyari sa pamangkin ko.
Pero... Hindi na'ko makapag-antay ng ilang linggo para makita si papa.
