16: While she was asleep

LIAM'S POV

"I wanted to say sorry for last night, Magi. Something just came up that's why I wasn't-----"

"No. It was fine."

I looked at her in surprise when she suddenly cut that off with a reassuring smile in her face. Wala man lang bahid na pagtatampo ang mukha nito ngayon. Is she even normal?

"You sure it was just fine? You know you can just lash at me now if you're upset with me. Come on.."

"No. I won't." nakangiti pa ring tugon nito, causing me to squint my eyes at her in suspicion.

Dapat ba 'kong magsaya ngayon na parang okay lang ang lahat rito? Dapat ba 'kong matuwa dahil hindi 'to 'yong tipo ng babae na matampuhin?

When I just remained silent while I closely studied her under my scrutiny, mas lalo pang ngumiti ito before she folded her arms on her chest.

"It was fine okay? Actually, something happened with me last night. And I felt like I must tell you about it that's why I came here when your mom called me this morning."

That caused me to straighten up on my seat when I think she was about to confess something right now.

"What about it? What happened last night during my absence? Is something good happened while I was away?"

My brow shot up when she slowly nodded her head and then her smile turned into a grimace. Confirming my suspicion.

"Actually, I was just here to tell you something about our engagement..." she trailed off, causing my brow to arch up more as it had caught my attention now.

Don't tell me she was going to----

"I want to cancel our engagement, William."

Nang bigla na lamang niyang sabihin 'yon, I just remained silent while I just stared at her for a while.

Gaya ng iniisip ko, she was indeed backing out with our engagement. At kita ko naman ngayon na seryoso talaga ito. At mukhang alam ko na rin kung anong magandang nangyari rito kagabi. She must've had a hot night with her boyfriend last night.

"You sure about that? Did your parents already know about this?"

"Yes. I've already talked to them about this and they're fine with it."

Napapatango-tango na lamang ako rito when she firmly answered that.

Well....I'm free again! Hurray!

I wanted to jump out in joy right now pero pinigilan ko na ang sarili ko dahil baka ano pang masabi nito.

Just not now but later..

"Are you mad about it?"

"No. Because actually, I don't really want this wedding in the first place. Only my mom really want this anyway so there's no reason for me to get mad at you." Gusto ko na ngang magtatalon sa tuwa ngayon kung alam mo lang. I want to add that pero pinili ko nalang na tumahimik.

Parang natuwa naman ito sa mga sinabi kong 'yon because a broad smile instantly appeared on her face pagkarinig sa'kin.

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted when the door in my office suddenly flung out open and then my dad barged inside. Worry was all over his face right now.

"Dad! Is something wrong?"

"Liam, may iba ka pa bang gagawin ngayon? Something happened to Suzy. Bigla nalang nilagnat si Suzy kaya kinailangan siyang iuwi agad kanina."
