Chapter 3. Therapy

I didn’t have to work until 5: 30 pm, because I had an appointment with my therapist. So I drank a cup of coffee, got dressed, then I took a taxi to the offices. I was always nervous to see my therapist, I mean sure, it was only an hour session and she was extremely nice, I just hated talking about my past…. Or even my present. I walked into the office, I had my hands in my pockets like a nervous person would. The nurse knew me by now, so I didn’t really need to sign in. ” Dr. Wade is still in with another patient, she’ll be with you in a few minutes ” the nurse smiled, I gave her a single nod. I sat down in one of the waiting chairs, then I pulled out my phone. The waiting room was empty and it smelled…. Well like a doctors office. The door opened to her office and a young guy walked out ( when I say young, I mean in his 20’s ), he quickly glanced glanced at me and smiled. And like the nice person that I am, I smiled back. ” Alright Scottie next week, same time ” Dr. Wade stated, he nodded and smiled. Dr. Wade called me into her office, we talked about the normal things, tears were shed. That’s just how it always goes.

[ An Hour Later ] 

I was back in the taxi, on my way to the cafe. The therapy session went fine, I mostly talked about my parent’s and Jeremy, but I swear, Dan’s name always found it’s way into the conversation. I was always telling her about how I wanted to be with him, that I secretly loved him, that every time we were supposed to hangout together I always used the same excuses because it was just too hard to see Dan and Beth happy. I walked into the cafe feeling a lot better ( Now that I had told someone about the feelings I had toward Dan ) , Joe was working with me today ( Alec had a few weeks off, to help Alice with their newly born twins ). I smiled at Joe as I walked into the back to put my things away,   ” Hey Elle ” Joe smiled. ” Hey ” I sighed, he followed me into the back. ” Is everything Okay? ” he asked, ( Everybody was always worried about me, It made me feel bad, none of them should have to worry ). I smiled ” Yeah, I’m Fine, just a little tired “, he nodded and chuckled a bit. ” Ellie, can I talk to you really quick? ” Faye asked, I nodded quickly and walked into her office. ” I just wanted to let you know, me and the family are going out of town next week. Kyle’s gonna be in charge, I know you’re not a trouble maker, so I’m not worried about you. It’s my nephew I’m worried about, he’ll be starting tomorrow, but don’t worry the boy’s are going to train him ” she stated, I smiled at her. ” I’m sure everything will be Alright ” I smiled, she nodded. Then she told me a few more things, but they were just the standard things. I got to work quickly and that was how my day pretty much went, I got off around 10 pm and I closed up with Joe. When I got back to my flat, I fed Bernie and then fell asleep on the sofa.

[ Next Day ] 

I was scheduled to work all day, but I was alright with that. Working long hours, gave me less time to think about Dan. I walked to work like normal, Joe, Caspar and Kyle were there and to my surprise, so was Faye’s nephew. It was the same guy that was in the therapist’s office, Scottie is what Dr. Wade called him. ” Ellie this is Scott, Scott this is Ellie ” Faye announced, ” I go by Scottie ” he smiled ( He was pretty cute ). Stupid little ol’ me, waved like a fucking dork. ” Don’t mind her, she’s quiet and shy ” Faye stated, ” Yeah, but once you get to know her, she can be quite annoying ” Joe chuckled. ” And grumpy ” Caspar smirked from behind me, I rolled my eyes and sighed. ” It’s alright, quiet can be cool ” Scottie smirked, I couldn’t help but blush a bit ( Like really? ). We stood there like deer’s in head lights, ” We should probably work now… ” Caspar stated awkwadly. I snapped out of my weird trance thing I was in and nodded. Working was easy, there weren’t many people in the cafe today. It was now lunchtime, I was sitting at one of the booth’s with Caspar. I was eating a bag of crisps and drinking a cup of coffee,  ” Hey guys, do you mind if I have lunch with you ” Scottie asked. Caspar quickly nodded, ” I’ve got to get back to work, but Ellie’s free ” Caspar smiled as he slowly got up, giving me one of those ’ Go for it ’ looks. Scottie nodded as he sat down in front of me, ” You know I remember you ” he smiled. I tried to look confused, but I think I looked more constipated than anything. He chuckled, ” From Dr. Wade’s office ” he smiled. I nodded and smiled, then things fell quiet ( Not everyone is gonna be like Jeremy or Max, get to know him ). ” So, how’s your first day going? ” I asked quietly, I know he heard me, because he smiled. ” So, you do talk… I was beginning to wonder. And it’s been a great first day ” he smiled again ( Wow, this guy just… always smiles ), I smiled ” That’s good “. He nodded, ” So, do you have any pet’s? ” I asked him quickly. He chuckled and shook his head, ” Unfortunatly I don’t, but I do Love animals ” he stated. I nodded, ” Do you? ” he asked. ” Yeah, I have a cat named Bernie, Dr. Wade actually suggested that I got a pet ” I smiled, he smiled back. We talked about a few more topics until we got back to work, and I started having this feeling. Yeah like ’ He’s cute and I might like him ’ feeling, but I haven’t felt that way since Dan. By 7 pm the cafe became crowded, which included Dan and Beth ( FML, Why was this happening now ). Scottie and I stayed up by the counter as Joe, Caspar and a few other waitors, waited on the tables.

" How do you deal with this! " Scottie exclaimed, I smiled ( As the day went on, I had already started warming up to him, which was major ). ” You’ll get used to it ” I stated helping a few customers, every so often I’d glance at Dan and Beth, they were always flirting and making eyes with each other. So I would just pretend that I didn’t notice, because that’s what always fucking happened. The dinner rush ended around 9 pm, only an hour left until… Sleep. The hour quickly passed by and then we locked up quickly, ” Ellie? ” Scottie asked. I nodded, ” Yeah? ” I questioned. He nervously cleared his throat, ” So I just moved to London and I haven’t got a lot of friends, I was just wondering if you’d like to hangout this weekend… As friends. I understand if that sounds weird ” he sighed. I smiled, ” Sure that sounds like fun and totally not weird ” I stated. He let out a deep sigh, like a sigh of relief, but I was just as nervous as he was. We exchanged numbers, then I walked home. I had a weird feeling about this, I just didn’t know whether or not it was good, or bad. But, I couldn’t have the guy I wanted, there was nothing else I could do, but move on…. Or at least make a new friend.
