Chapter 15. The Break Up - Dan's P.O.V

I slowly sat up, as the morning sun shown through the curtains. I wasn’t in my room, but I knew exactly where I was. I was in Ellie’s room, I remembered everything from last night. Ellie was still sleeping soundly, I quickly put my clothes on and decided to quietly sneak out of her flat. I know it was wrong, I slept with my friend, I cheated on my girlfriend, it was all wrong. I didn’t feel bad tho. I mean I did, but not for the reason you might think. I’m actually Okay about what Ellie and I did, it made me open my eyes, Ellie made me happy, anything she did made me happy. Beth never made me feel that way, she made me feel weak and helpless. I didn’t know why I was ever in a relationship, I guess I just tried to move on, but now it was time for it to end. I needed another chance with Ellie. As I walked back to my place, more thoughts ran through my head. See I didn’t feel bad for cheating, I should, but I don’t. I feel bad because, I feel like I took advantage of Ellie. She was drunk off her ass, she didn’t know what she was doing, I did. And that’s why I felt so bad, because she’d probably never would’ve have done it if she would of been sober. 

I walked into my flat and sighed, it was quiet, too quiet. ” Phil? ” I shouted, but no answer. I walked upstairs and into the kitchen, still nothing. I walked into the lounge, again nothing. It was weird. So I walked into my bedroom, just to find Beth just casually sitting on my bed and she didn’t look happy. ” Hey, what are you doing here? ” I asked her awkwardly, she sighed ” I’ve been here, all night… Waiting for you “. I glanced down, ” Oh, Why? ” I questioned. ” I need to talk to you about something ” she stated, I nodded slightly. ” I got a promotion at work, but I have to move….” she sighed, I looked down. ” To where? ” I asked, ” America ” she stated. ” Wow… ” I sighed, she nodded. ” Where were you last night? ” she questioned, I stayed quiet and that gave it away. ” You were with Ellie, I knew it ” she exclaimed, I nodded. ” You still have feelings for her, don’t you? ” she asked, I nodded again. She then let out a sigh of relief, ” Okay, good. Now it won’t be hard to tell you goodbye, I know you love Ellie and she loves you, you’re meant to be with her. I’ll find someone who truly loves me, don’t worry, I’ll be fine. You’ll both be fine ” she smiled. I looked at her strangely, ” So, that means? ” I asked confused. ” It’s over ” she stated standing up, I just simply nodded. Afterword she quickly left, just like that and that was the end of that relationship. Now, I just had to figure out how to deal with what happened between Ellie and I. 

A few hours later Phil came home, ” Where were you? ” I questioned. He sat on the couch, ” Well, I didn’t know if you and Ellie would be here. After last night, I… I didn’t wanna walk in on anything you two were doing… Did you?…. Oh, I don’t even wanna know! ” he exclaimed. I chuckled, noticing how uncomfortable he was. ” Phil…. ” I started, but he threw his hands over his ears and shook his head ( As a Joke ). ” Have you talked to Beth? She called me last night, looking for you ” he asked, I sighed ” Yeah, she was here when I got in this morning, it’s over between us. She’s moving to America anyway “. He uncovered his ears, but I know he had heard me. ” So, what does this mean for you and Ellie? ” he asked, I shrugged ” Well after last night, I don’t know. I need to talk to her first, I’m just afraid “. He looked at me confused, ” Of what? ” he asked. ” Rejection, again! Everyone keeps telling me that she loves me, but she’s never told me… ” I stated, he sighed ” Don’t worry, just talk to her and straighten all this out “. I nodded, ” And then marry her ” Phil joked with a smile. I rolled my eyes, ” Now you’re moving too fast Phil ” I chuckled. I knew I needed to talk to her, but I had to get ready for our Sunday radio show. I’d do it soon, but not now.
