Chapter 9. One Week Later

The week quickly went by, things between Dan and I were still a bit rocky. I missed him, I genuinely did. For some reason we were both jealous, but that doesn’t stop him from continuing to date Beth. Scottie and I formed a tighter bond, I found out so much about him. Like how he loves Photography, he’s never been in a relationship, but he hadn’t told me his story yet and why he was seeing Dr. Wade ( I wasn’t going to push it though ). I had already explained to him that I still had strong feelings toward Dan and I was in no shape to date anyone… Except Dan. Scottie was extremely supportive and understanding about the whole thing, so that was nice. I also told him about my fucked up past with my parents and that’s why I was seeing Dr. Wade, again he understood. I was walking to work on a bright Monday morning, I had my ear buds in and was listening to Music             ( Because that’s what ear buds are for ). I looked around, because it felt like someone was watching me. I sighed as I reached the cafe, I then took my ear buds out of my ears. I walked into the back, put my things away, checked to see who I was working with and then said a tired ’ Morning ’ to Kyle ( Faye decided to spend two weeks out of town with her family ). ” Who are you working with today? ” Kyle asked, ” Scottie and Casp ” I smiled. He nodded, ” Oh great, the trouble makers ” he chuckled. A few seconds later Scottie walked through the door, ” Hey Ellie ” he smiled. ” Hey ” I yawned, he Chuckled ” Tired? “. I nodded, ” I had a late night TV marathon ” I sighed. ” And you didn’t invite me? How dare you? ” he joked, I smiled ” I’m sorry, I guess I wasn’t thinking clearly “. He chuckled, Caspar sprinted into the cafe an hour later. ” Sorry I’m late, I just overslept ” he stated out of breath. Scottie and I chuckled, ” Must be nice ” I smirked. Caspar rolled his eyes and walked into the back, that’s when Scottie turned to me and smiled. ” What? ” I asked weirdly, he shrugged ” Do you wanna hangout tonight? As friends of course “. I raised an eyebrow, ” Pizza and Netflix? ” I questioned. He smiled and nodded, ” Joe and I will be there at 9 pm ” Caspar smirked from behind us. I rolled my eyes and nodded, I loved movie nights with Joe, Caspar and Scottie, but I missed Dan being at them too. Work wasn’t too bad at first, not to slow or too busy. Lately I haven’t been worrying about things that didn’t matter, which I guess was a step in the right direction for a happy life. That didn’t last long tho, as the day went on, something happened, someone happened, someone I didn’t ever expect to see again. I was standing up at the counter with Scottie, talking about something. When I noticed a familiar face enter the cafe, at first I couldn’t remember who it was ( Which was weird ) It hadn’t hit me yet. When it did, I held my breath, my face became flustered and panicky. Scottie stared at me worried, ” Ellie, What’s Wrong? Are you okay? ” he questioned. I shook my head quickly and dashed into the back, just to be out of the view of his face. Kyle then rushed to my side ( Along with Scottie ), Kyle asked me all the same questions as Scottie. I was breathing quick and starting to shake, ” I need…. to……talk to……Alec…. ” I stuttered out of total fear. Kyle quickly pulled out his phone and dialed Alec’s number, the then handed me the phone. ” Hello? ” Alec asked, ” Alec ” I sighed. ” Ellie what’s wrong? ” he asked, ” Someone’s here…. Someone I’m terrified of….. ” I sighed. ” Who? That Max kid? ” he asked, ” No… Jeremy… I don’t know why he’s here…. I thought he lived hours away… Alec I’m scared, I’m really fucking scared ” I explained quickly. ” Has he noticed you yet? ” Alec questioned, I sighed ” No, I just saw him and freaked “. ” Well he might not even recognize you Elle, so calm down ” he stated, I took a deep breath in and then let it out. ” Alright ” I sighed, ” Call me if anything else happens ” he stated. ” Okay, bye ” I sighed hanging up the phone, I looked at Kyle and Scottie, their faces looked confused. I sighed and gave them a half smile, ” I’m sorry guys, I just need a minute ” I stated. They both nodded and got back to work, I placed my back against the wall and sighed ( I couldn’t hide back here forever ). 

After breathing for a few minutes, I walked back into the front. Jeremy was leaning up against the counter. He looked at lot different, that’s how I didn’t recognize him at first. ( His hair is shorter, his clothes aren’t the same, his piercings are gone ), As soon as he saw me, he smiled evilly. I tried not to look scared or terrified, but let’s face it, that was kinda impossible ( Because he was a fucking monster ). I glanced around, Scottie and Caspar were across the room taking orders, Kyle was in Faye’s office, you know being the boss. I had to face this ass on my own.. ( Just act normal ) ” What can I get for you? ” I asked him ( Like the waitress I was ), he smiled ( He knew what I was trying to do ). ” You’re not fooling anyone Ellie… or should I say Natalie…. ” he smirked, I took a deep breath in. ” I don’t know what you’re talking about…” I lied, he cocked his head. ” Really? You thought I wouldn’t recognize you…. Please, you still look like the pathetic girlfriend I had, only now you have darker hair…Which I like a lot ” he scoffed, I bit the inside of my cheek, trying to think of something to say, I just couldn’t get the words out. He let out a chuckle, ” So tell me Nat, how has my girlfriend been? ” he questioned. ” That’s not my name… And I’m not your girlfriend ” I stated, he glared at me slightly. ” Really? I didn’t get the memo that you were my Ex girlfriend ” he spat, ” I disappeared…. You should’ve got the fucking memo ” I spat back. ( Wow, I’ve never done that before, normally I just take it ) He didn’t like it though, ” Listen smart-ass. I’m the one with this information and if you don’t wanna play nice with me, I will tell everyone, including your parents. Got it? ” he spat with a smirk. I nodded, he smiled ” Good, I’ll see you tomorrow babe ” he stated as he walked out of the cafe. I sunk down to the floor, he was going to ruin my life again. He knew my parent’s, they’d believe him and then they’d come find me. I was a ball of emotions, but I couldn’t cry, I was working so I had to be professional ( I wanted to punch something though ). I stood up and sighed, ” Are you okay? ” Caspar asked. ” Yeah, I’m fine….For now ” I stated, he knew I was lying, but continued on with his work. I was scheduled to work until 4:30 pm, but now I was too afraid to go home. So I stayed around and helped out longer, until the cafe closed. After work, Scottie walked with me, back to my flat            ( Since he, Joe and Caspar were going to be sleeping over anyway ). I smiled at Scottie, ” Thanks again for coming with me, I’ll feel a lot more safer with the three of you with me ” I stated. He nodded and chuckled, ” It’s okay Ellie, that’s what friends are for…. but since I’ll protect you from him, you’ll have to protect me from any spiders, because I can’t deal with those ” he smirked. I chuckled ” Deal “, we walked up the stairs and into my flat. I quickly fed Bernie, ordered the Pizza’s and changed into my pajama’s. ” Are you bringing the duvet? ” Scottie called, I chuckled ” Of course “. I finished getting changed, grabbed my duvet and some extra blankets, then walked into the lounge. Caspar and Joe arrived shortly after, same with the Pizza’s.

The lights were off and the movie was rolling, but it was interrupted by a knock on the door. ” Ugh! ” I exclaimed getting up off the sofa, I walked slowly to the door. I swung it open and quickly embraced in a warm hug, by Dan. I missed his hugs, they were one’s I really wanted. ” Hi ” I chuckled, ” Elle, I’m sorry. Alec told me that Jeremy came to the cafe, what did he say? Did he know it was you? ” he questioned. I continued to hug him tightly, ” Yeah, he knew it was me. And he wanted to scare the shit outta me ” I sighed. ” Elle! The pizza’s getting cold and Caspar’s going to eat yours ” Joe shouted, causing me to pull away from Dan. ” Pizza? Move over, I’m staying ” he chuckled pushing past me and running into my flat, I rolled my eyes and followed him into the lounge. I’m happy to know that I had such good friends, and I’m happy Dan showed up. I just didn’t know what was gonna happen with the Jeremy thing, all I know is he wasn’t going to just leave.
