Chapter 18. Wow, Long Time No Talk!

So it’s been a few days, I still haven’t talked to Dan. I’ve been to the doctors, what can I say. The pregnancy test didn’t lie, so when she told me I was fer sure Pregnant, I wasn’t surprised. Alice was still the only one who knew, I just told everyone else I was ill. I had spent my morning tidying up my flat, which it really needed. Around lunch, Scottie paid me a visit. He knew something was up, since we’d been spending so much time together. I didn’t want to keep lying to him or any of my other friends, sure Alec was my ’ Brother ’ ( From a another mother ), and I considered Scottie my best friend, I just was afraid ( Great, now I’m afraid again ). ” Oh Ellie! I’ve brought you some lunch! ” he exclaimed in a high pitch voice, I was sitting on the sofa, looking through Tumblr. I smiled up at him, ” What did you bring me,What did you bring me ? ” I asked like a child. ” Chicken Ceaser salad ” he smiled, ” Good, burgers have made me sick recently ” I mumbled grabbing the container from him. He sat down on the sofa next to me, ” Ellie, I know there’s something going on. You can’t eat any of the food you love anymore, so tell me ” he stated seriously. I glanced down ( I wanted Dan to be the first to know, but it wasn’t my fault he wouldn’t answer my calls and I just couldn’t lie again ), I sighed ” Okay, you’re right. I told you already about Dan and I…. you know, hooking up. I still feel like shit about it and I’m still a hoe, but…. “. I paused, I was scared about telling him about this next part. ” Don’t call yourself a hoe, Ellie. Big deal, You had a one night stand, we’ve all been there. And you’re no where near a hoe! ” he smirked, I let out another sigh. He then nodded, wanting me to continue, but I had a feeling he already knew what I was going to say. ” I might have a human child growing inside of me ” I sighed quietly, he pulled me into a large hug. ” Are you okay? Does he know? What are you gonna do? ” he exclaimed as he continued to hug me, I sighed once again. ” No, I’m not okay. I wanted him to be the first to know, but he won’t answer my calls and I don’t want to lie to my friends anymore! ” I exclaimed rather quickly, he pulled away from me. ” Calm down Elle, it’s not your fault, don’t beat yourself up about it ” he sighed, I nodded. ” What are you going to do? ” he asked again, I shrugged ” I’m not sure yet, I’m not sure if I’m capable of being a mom and raising a child “. He nodded, ” Well if you decided to keep the baby, I’ll be here for you. If Dan wants nothing to do with you or the baby, I’ll step in and take his place ” he smiled. I rolled my eyes, ” Thanks Scottie Boy! ” I smirked. He chuckled and nodded, ” Just take a deep breath in, relax and stop stressing… Anyway, I was going to ask you if you wanted to come to my cousins wedding, with me? ” he questioned out of the blue. ” Sure, Where’s it at? ” I smiled, ” Well it’s in Leeds, we’d be there for two nights and we’ll stay over in a hotel ” he smiled. I nodded and smiled, ” Cool, I’ll join you ” I stated as I picked through my salad. He smiled and nodded, ” Alright, well I’ve got to get back to work. I’ll call you later Gurl ” he smirked. I rolled my eyes, ” Okay, Bye ” I sighed.

I finished up my salad as I browsed the Internet, until I started to get a Skype call. I was shocked when I saw the name… Dan. I hesitated to answer it ( I almost didn’t ), but I accepted. His face popped on the screen, something about him was different. ” Hey.. ” I sighed quietly, he smiled ” Hi! “. ” Long time no talk ” I sighed, he stared at me strangely as he remained quiet. It’s like he didn’t know what to say, he had no explanation. He was drunk, ” Have you been drinking? ” I asked. He nodded and smirked, I let out a deep sigh ( He only called me because he’s been drinking ). We kinda sat there, with blank faces and no words. ” Well, I’ll let you go then ” I sighed awkwardly, he looked at me confused. ” But I want to talk to you ” he stated, I sighed . ” Why? In the morning , you won’t even remember this conversation ” I stated, he shrugged and rolled his eyes. ” How do you know? ” he asked with that cocky attitude, ” Fine Dan. We’ll talk ” I sighed with a frown. He smiled happily, ” So watcha doing? ” he questioned. ” Well, I was watching American Horror Story and eating a salad ” I sighed, he nodded. ” Which season? ” he asked, ” The first ” I stated. he smiled. ” So, I heard you were back in California ” I sighed, he nodded. ” Yeah, for the radio show ” he stated, I smiled ” Cool “. This was weird, it was awkward. Silence fell between us, until I heard Phil pounding at the door. ” Dan! Leave her alone! ” he yelled, ” No! ” Dan shouted back ( Like a child that locked themselves in a room ). I couldn’t help but smile, I missed the both of them like crazy, but it was still weird. When Phil finally got into the room, he smile at the camera. ” Sorry Elle, he’s just been talking about you all night. I guess he needed to talk to you ” Phil sighed, I smiled ” It’s fine Phil “. He nodded, ” Dan, it’s time to let Ellie go now ” Phil sighed. Dan stared at me, but he nodded. ” Bye ” Dan sighed, ” Bye ” I whispered as the camera cut off. I shut my laptop and sighed, this was going to be harder than I thought it would be. I ended up ordering a take away for dinner ( Even tho I knew, I’d probably be up all night, puking it up ), then I just relaxed on the sofa, cuddling Bernie.

In the morning I woke up around 9 pm, it would be another long work day. I felt better tho, I think seeing his face, hearing his voice. I wish I could’ve told him about.. you know, but I didn’t want to break it to him over the phone or over Skype, that just wouldn’t be right. I quickly changed my clothes and walked to work. Scottie was already there, I smiled at him as I walked into the cafe. ” Hey Elle, Wow. Somethings different, you look happy for once ” he smiled, I nodded. ” So when’s your cousins wedding, I forgot to ask you that yesterday ” I asked, he smiled ” Saturday, but we’re leaving Friday ” [ It was Wednesday ]. I nodded and quickly got to work, like I said it was boring, with nothing of interest. I didn’t even know when Dan was getting back , or if he’d even wanna talk to me then, but he had to know. I hated keeping secrets now, from everyone.
