Reader X Perospero: Candy and Gum Pt.1

You lived in Totto land, it was nice, just as long as you made sure to keep away from any trouble, you were just like any other kid, being careful to make it through the next day.

Well...

You did eat a devil fruit, but it was nothing major, just a paramecia that allowed you to stretch and stick your body like gum- yeah that's right, gum.

It was pretty handy actually, as the days went by you learned that you could stretch your appendages fairly far without the pain of threatening to snap, and you could stick to walls and other objects, you tasted fairly sweet- you just had to find out, and more things were discovered every week- best thing of all was that it didn't hurt when you bit your tongue anymore!

The day you ate the fruit was surely a memorable one, when you were living with your parents, during one of their final days together before their divorce, you 'ran away' to escape from the whole ordeal, only to get lost in the Seducing woods, lost, scared...

And hungry.

When you found a strange giant fruit lying in a meadow of lollipops, surely big enough to fill your roaring stomach, you didn't think twice.

Well, you may have thought twice when you took your first bite, it tasted absolutely toxic, thoughts of spitting it out, washing your tongue, and praying to god whatever poison was in there didn't kill you popped up, but ultimately you didn't care.

Maybe your death could bring your parents back together- which was kind of a dumb idea now that you think of it but past you just rolled with it.

The good news was that not only did you eventually find your way out of the woods- with the help of some talking flowers, but you weren't dead.

And you could stretch now.

For some reason when the plants saw you stretch, they got really nervous and weird, saying you might have been a new daughter of Linlin- whoever that was? You've heard the name float around town before but never quite found out who she was.

You had no idea what any of them were talking about, but if it meant they'd help you home, you didn't question it.

But then things began to sour.

You returned home to your parents, so excited to show off your new feature, and they freaked!

In the end they decided to stay together after-all! Just without you.

They kicked you out of the house and moved away to a different island a few days later, leaving you behind with an empty home and an empty heart.

You were so confused? Why did they leave you? Were these powers bad? But they got you out of those woods, they couldn't have been bad?

Ever since then you've been struggling to survive, eating anything edible that no one would miss, running around the city and staring at people to keep yourself occupied, and you definitely didn't use your powers in public.

Whenever you saw yourself in public, you could only imagine the looks of horror and mortification your parents gave you.

You didn't ever want anyone to look at you that way ever again.

But it was hard to live on the streets, no shelter, the danger of being in a Yonko's territory, the dangerous people who liked to hang about.

Frowning at a group of kids ignorantly going about with their lives joyously, your eyes were unseeing as your thoughts clouded to a darker place.

Why did this happen to you? Why did your parents abandon you? Why did you get these accursed powers?

Feeling tears threaten to overflow, you turned to rush off from the scene only to bump into a taller boy's chest.
