Crazy, Absolutely Crazy

I dished on every single detail of my first lesson to Katy as she listened intently – same as Edward, as I had stolen a glance at him and his hand was not working on the assignment he was marking anymore. He had stopped and his head was bent so he was obviously listening. Well, hello there, eavesdropper.
Anyway, I did not mind as there was nothing to hide; I just found that a little bit annoying.
“It’s so cool that they like you,” Katy said when I had finished, “You know, when I was first here, I got pranked by some seniors! Wasn’t the type of teacher that students love; took me a month to figure out what kind of teacher they like… Lucky you!”
“Maybe the same won’t happen with the seniors,” I said nervously.
“But from the sound of it I’m pretty sure that they will love you!”
“I hope so,” I smiled slightly. It was so easy to talk to Katy, and I liked her already.
“What lesson do you have next?” Katy asked, changing the topic.
I showed her my timetable – senior class next. I gulped.
“Don’t worry,” Katy could see that I was nervous, “It won’t be as bad as you think – just be careful, the seniors can get out of hand!”
“Okay,” I said, thinking of the worst situation. I guessed the most out-of-hand scenario would be students running all over the classroom, out of control…
A while later, the bell rang, and it was time for me to go to my next class. The teachers had all returned to the staff room to get ready for the next class.
Taking a deep breath, I entered the classroom, coming face to face with the chatting seniors. They ignored me with their backs to me, talking animatedly. Typical seniors. I put down my books on the desk, and looked up to scan the room.
A boy caught my eyes and he seemed taken aback, his eyes widening. The girls were smiling at me. And then this boy whispered to his mates who were talking, and nudged them, whispering something, and soon enough the message was passed throughout the room, and as each boy got the message they would turned to look at me with a surprise expression. Okay, what was their problem? This school was weird.
Finally everyone was silent, and I introduced myself.
A boy whistled and shouted, “Hello Miss (your last name)!” and as I looked at him, he winked at me. Oh my God. What?
“Well, hello there,” I answered with a fake smile on my face – don’t tell me he was trying to hook on me or something! But actually, who would want to? I was no one special, to be honest. I was just plain me. This weird school was definitely messing with my head.
“Seriously this school should stop employing hot teachers,” another boy said, a little bit too loudly, “This one is even hotter than Miss Smith!” he was referring to Katy.
Okay, so I was not imaging things. I had to stop this, or we were getting nowhere.
“Ahem,” I pretended to cough, “We should start the lesson now; I don’t want to get kicked out of this school on my first day here – or I’d have to kick someone out of class.”
“Oh,” one boy shouted, “That’s hot!”
Then the boy started whistling, and I put one hand on the desk loudly, the other one on my hip, resting against the waistline of my pencil skirt.
“Looks like someone’s desperate to get kicked out,” I raised an eyebrow, and I instantly regretted my action – I had sent the boys, again, into frenzy.
The girls began to laugh at the boys, and some were trying to calm them down, which I was grateful to see.
I shook my head, and decided to ignore them. I turned towards the blackboard and began writing.
“Nice bottom there!” someone shouted, and I decided ignorance was the best choice for now.

“I finally understand why you’re telling me to be careful,” I slumped down in my seat during lunch time, telling Katy, who was munching on her sandwich – I had brought some light lunch too, as I was not sure if I would get much time for lunch considering that this was my first day here; there might be a lot of work for me. So now I had company – the others had gone out for lunch, except Katy, as well as the weird twins, who had just entered with their lunchboxes.
“Let me guess,” Katy giggled as I fished out my tuna roll, “They must have called you pretty.” Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed the twins had frozen at their desk. It was starting to get creepy.
I shook my head, “They kept using the word ‘hot’,” I mumbled.
“Oh my God,” Katy gasped, then chuckled, “That’s even worse! Poor you, you’re going to have a hard time from them… But I’m sure it’s nothing you can’t manage!”
The twins were now listening on us. Even John was doing the same. They were deep in silence eating, but I could easily tell they were listening. It was so quiet here that even Katy and I were talking in low voices, it was still like we were yelling.
“They mentioned you,” I told Katy, “Do you have any tips for me? They almost went out of control.”
“Just joke back,” Katy said, “But be careful, don’t go over the line and send them crazy! They will do anything to grab your attention, so don’t ignore them, it won’t help!”
I nodded, and sighed. As much as I loved the staff here – maybe except the weird pair of twins – I wished I was in another simpler school.

A month had passed, and despite the crazy seniors and the twins who were still as weird as ever – I had never talked to them appropriately – I enjoyed teaching here. Katy and I had become very close friends too.
I was working alone in the staff room now as all the other teachers were either at lessons or in the meeting which senior teachers were required to attend. I was marking some assignments, when two people walked in.
The familiar pinches of blond caught my eyes, and I looked up briefly to confirm my suspicion.
Of course, they were the twins. Who else would it be? But I had to suppress a shiver as I realized they were both looking at me while retreating to their seats. They did not show any sign of looking away even though they knew they were caught staring at me red-handed.
WHAT WAS THEIR PROBLEM?
Even when they had slid into their seats, I could still feel their gaze on me. I ignored them and tried to concentrate on my work, but it was getting uncomfortable.
And as weird as it sounded… I had to admit… It might be annoying and creepy at times, but I had grown to like this. They were undeniably attractive physically and their quiet, distant and mysterious profiles made it even more alluring.
