I was still shocked that I did not know where they were bringing me to, but I was not shaking anymore. That terrified feeling had gone.
At last they brought me to the car park, and John unlocked their car. It was different from the one which Jack drove last time – did that mean they had more than one car? They were really making me confused… And they had a driver… They must be really rich, but just like last time, I dared not ask them about it – and I was still too shocked to speak.
I just let them do whatever they wanted to do with me and I got into the back seat with Edward while John went back to the staff room to retrieve our stuff, and he returned and drove in the front.
Edward’s arm remained around my shoulders and I kind of liked that feeling. It did make me feel safe, even though I should not feel like that. I should still be scared of them, but maybe that jumbled thought of mine was messing with me.
Once the car started moving, Edward asked John for the phone – oh yeah, I remembered they shared one.
“Hello? Jane,” Edward said into the phone, “It’s Edward Grimes here – me and my brother as well as (Yn) have got something urgent to attend to, and we are already out of the school ground… Yes… We cannot attend today’s drama lesson… Yes… Please tell the principal… Yeah… Thank you, goodbye.”
Then he put away the phone, and we continued our car ride in silence. We drove out of the city, and all I could see were houses and trees and the sky.
“How did you know I was in danger?” the silence was starting to get awkward, and I whispered with trembling lips. I was still a bit jumpy.
Edward sighed, “I – well, we’re going to tell you everything later,”
That was the signal for me to stop asking, and I shut my mouth up, and continued staring out of the window in Edward’s arm.Eventually we pulled up in front of these massive iron gates. There was a guard booth next to the gates, and the guard inside nodded at us after punching some buttons to open the gates for us. Behind the gates was a long, wide driveway surrounded by trimmed bushes, bounded by a front yard covered in grass.
Wow. Was this their… Home?
We drove up to the mansion that stood at the end of the driveway, and stopped behind a tall, pretty water fountain. I glanced up at the gigantic flight of stairs that led to the wooden double front door.
And that was when consciousness kicked in. I should not be here. This was not good. These two men were dangerous and I did not know much about them, and I was now alone with them in a remote, unknown place. How did I even let them bring me here?
Once we were out of the car, I glanced around and zeroed my eyes on the gates of which we had just come in through. I knew this was not going to be possible for me to escape now – it was too late – but it was better than not trying at all. I was getting more and more paranoid. I no longer felt safe and relaxed around them as my senses had returned.
I shrugged Edward’s arm off of me and ran for the exit. But soon enough a pair of arms grabbed me from behind, securing me around the waist.
“Let me go!” I yelled, “I want to go home!”
“No,” it was John who was holding me, as he had forced me to turn around and I could see Edward standing beside the car, “We can’t let you go now, not before we have explained everything!”
“I just want to go,” I cried, pushing on John’s chest, “Please!”
“We promise we won’t hurt you,” John said, “Just give us a chance to explain everything before you decide to get away from us!”
“Ugh! No!” I was still insisting on leaving.
“I’m sorry, but we really have to do this,” without warning, John heaved me up and threw me over his shoulder.
“Put me down!” I screamed and hit his back, but he would not budge a bit. He walked up the stairs, and I could see Edward walking beside us.
I heard the door being opened, “Mr. Grimes,” I heard the familiar voice of Jack. As much as I wanted to go, I could not omit the fact that I was embarrassing myself in front of someone besides the twins. I blushed – partly because of anger, partly because of shame.
“Jack,” they greeted Jack briefly and let themselves in.
“Miss (your last name),” Jack nodded at me when I looked up to see Jack still standing by the double door.
“Jack,” I mumbled, and looked away.
I did not know where we were heading to – this place was absolutely massive. The furnishing looked expensive too. Oh dear God, where was I? This could not possibly be two young teachers’ home, could it?
After walking through some rooms and hallway, John put me down in a room which looked like a library. There was a big dark wood table in the middle of the room with six armchairs around, surrounded by heaps of bookshelves. A library in the house, really?
John had his arms around my waist though, as he was scared that I would run away again – and I was planning to do that. I would not stop until there was no way for me to try. This place was insanely expensive and the twins’ presence was doing me no good.
“Promise me you won’t run away and sit there,” John looked into my eyes seriously, gesturing to the armchairs, “Then I’ll let go.”
I nodded slowly, my expression giving nothing away. As I backed away from John and towards the armchairs, I looked from him to Edward. Then without giving time for them to digest anything, I sprinted towards the exit.
“Ahh!” I cried out as they caught me once again. I wanted to cry. What even was happening now? Why did they have to bring me here?
“No!” John said disapprovingly, “You force us to do this; I’m sorry.”
As John turned me around towards the armchairs, Edward had already pulled out one and he was taking off his tie. What?
I was forced to sit down on the chair and Edward tied my hands on each side of the arm rests using his tie as John made sure I could not run away.
“What are you doing?” I gasped, shocked. They were seriously tying me down? “Stop!”
They ignored me, and when Edward was done tying my hands so that his tie was extended from one side to the other of the char, John started to take off his tie and tied my ankles to two legs of the chair. JEEZ, WHAT WERE THEY DOING? Like I was not terrified enough? Who were they anymore? I felt they were strangers who could threaten me.
I kept kicking John away, but being physically weaker than him, he got his way and I was now secured on the chair. There was no way to escape. My eyes were now wide and full of shock.
I looked up at them, and now they were leaning against the table, their collars undone, hair slightly messed up, staring at me, looking like models doing photo shoots. No matter how scared I was right now, this was a fact that could not be denied.
“What now?” I whispered helplessly.
