I kept shifting uncomfortably in my seat in the staff room, and I could barely concentrate on my marking, under those burning stares on me. And there were two of them.
I was alone in the staff room with the twins. They were staring at me constantly as usual, even though they were also working.
They had mastered the skills of doing these two tasks all at once after so much practice on me. But I still had not managed to stay under their stares and work well at the same time. I thought my career was going to be ruined if they did not stop this. But I did not dare to talk to them; they might not be mean people but they were so cold that it somehow scared me. And they seemed to possess the ability of looking forceful without trying.
I sighed, thinking that if they would not end this, I would be the one ending it. Picking up my stuff, I decided to go to the staff common room to do my work.
I tried not to look at them when I walked past them to the door that led to the common room. I clutched my stuff closely to my chest, persuading myself not to look.
But… One look would not kill, would it? They were just my colleagues – colleagues with the talent of intimidating people.
Oh God. They were staring back at me emotionlessly – even without emotion playing on their beautiful faces was enough to distract me big time. I instantly regretted my action – my books and papers all tumbled to the ground.
Embarrassed, I quickly bent to pick them up, when two pairs of feet appeared in front of me.
I thought I almost got a heart attack – what – they were helping me with picking up my stuff? Oh my God! That was the closest experience I had had with them ever since the first day I was here, when I shook hands with them.
“Thanks,” I mumbled without looking up, knowing that I would embarrass myself again if I did. I reached for my schedule at the foot of one of the two stunning male creatures in front of me – at the same time of the owner of that foot.
Our hands touched, and I felt like being electrocuted. I thought he felt the same too, as he withdrew his hand in lightning speed, even faster than me. I looked up briefly to see that it was Edward.
“Sorry,” I muttered under my breath, although I did not know why I was apologizing; I had done nothing wrong, for goodness sake! But I just did not know what had come over me; they really dazzled people a lot.
No wonder Jane was head over heels for them, I thought as I recalled my memory from the first day of my arrival. And that was not the only time that I witnessed her effort in raising the twins’ attention; she had to come in every day at least once as she also acted as the bridge between the principal and us teachers, so she had to pass messages or documents to us if they could not be transmitted through electronic communication.
But it seemed like the twins had no interest in her despite her beauty. She was young, just like Katy, a little bit more mature than me, and perhaps a year younger than the twins; I could not really tell, but I was sure the twins were a few years older than me. They were said to have worked here for just a year though. No one really knew about them except the public facts.
I was not sure why John and Edward were always looking at me – I was nowhere as pretty as Jane, if you asked me, so why would someone as gorgeous as them be interested in me? And the thought was somehow wrong; they were interested in the same person at once!
Okay, enough for my ridiculous thoughts. We finished picking up my stuff and they handed them to me.
“Thanks,” I tried my best to smile at them, failing to hide my blush. They nodded simply and returned to their seats.
I quickly dived into the common room and closed the door behind me, not daring to spare another glance at them in case I made I fool out of myself again.

When I walked out again, the twins were still there – but I was glad that I would not be left alone with them now, as Katy was also here, and another two teachers. I slipped into my seat as Katy shot me a look of puzzlement.
“Why were you in the common room?” she asked.
“Err,” I said, playing for more time as I racked my brain for an excuse, “I—” and I accidentally let my eyes wandered to the twins. Shoot.
Katy noticed that, and she giggled. The twins looked like they were listening again, “I know the common room is comfy to relax in; I didn’t know you’d find that place good for working too! I mean, won’t that mix up with resting? I thought that place was only for resting and working in there would ruin the mood.” Katy was obviously whipping up an excuse for me, as she winked at me. People in the room could also hear our voices too, so it’s best to keep it straight.
I smiled back, “No, I’m used to that – I work in my bed sometimes too,”
And then Katy leaned in, “Don’t worry,” she whispered cheekily, “I understand – I think they have a thing for you – don’t think I didn’t realize how they always look at you!”
I sighed, and shrugged my shoulders, then went back to our work respectively. It was not a good place to talk about personal stuff, after all.

The school days dragged on and on, and nothing had changed between the twins and I. They were still the same old stalker-ish duo. And the seniors were still as flirty as ever, but I guessed I had got the hang of handling them thanks to Katy and her tips.
At last it was Friday, and tonight I would be meeting up with my old friends at the club. We did that kind of meet up regularly – yes I was a teacher, but I was young and I did have that kind of fun outside work.
“What are your plans this weekend?” Katy asked as everyone was packing and preparing to leave.
“I’m meeting up with my old friends at the club tonight,” I told her honestly.
“Which one?” Katy asked, interested, “Maybe we have met in some clubs before!”
“The Lion,” I told her.
“Oh, that one!” she said, realization hitting her face, “I’ve been to there before! But not my usual hang out place.”
“Maybe we should hang out there some time,” I grinned. I really liked Katy as a friend. She was great.
“Sure!”
As I was in a sort of rush, I said a quick goodbye to everyone and dashed back home. The twins had never taken their eyes off me during my departure.
