The Talk

I got home and went straight up to my room to get ready for the weekend. I had been to the twins’ house – or should I say mansion – countless times since the secret got revealed but this would be the first time for me to stay over.
Even though Jack and some other people like Elsie the maid would be there, the mansion was so big that basically I would be alone with John and Edward all the time. But as they had not really tried anything on me before and kept their promise of being just friends, I knew I could trust them. They might play some flirty jokes but that was all; or else I would not have said yes to staying over.
I packed some clothes and essentials then changed into some fresh casual clothes. I threw on a loose T-shirt and a pair of shorts.
I sat in the living room and watched TV with my bag of weekend stuff next to me. I was actually getting excited about this weekend; their home was basically a club house, I could do anything from screaming in the library to playing tennis! It was like a weekend getaway.
At five to six, my doorbell rang. I fetched the remote to turn off the TV before heading to the door.
“Hey,” the boys were standing in front of me in identical outfits. They were both wearing green T-shirts and black skinny jeans with black hightops.
They really liked wearing the same thing and confusing people… But of course, I could tell them apart. I guessed one of the reasons of why they liked to wear the same thing was that they wanted to emphasize the fact that they were twins and were really close, so they could wrap themselves in their own bubble and prevent intruders from stepping over their boundaries. I was one of the rare outsiders that had joined them in their world.
“Hi,” I grinned at them, “Just a second, I’m going to get my bag!”
I ran back inside and grabbed my bag before switching everything off and flicking off the light switches. John held my bag for me and they waited behind while I locked the door.
I followed them to the car and it was not the one that they usually drove to school – it was the one that Jack showed up in when I got wasted the other night. I grimaced at the embarrassing thought.
Edward climbed into the backseat with me following, and John got in after me after putting my bag in the front passenger’s seat. Jack was in the driver’s seat waiting patiently.
“Hi Jack,” I smiled at him through the rearview mirror. I had got to know more about him after I joined the twins’ world, and he was a really nice guy. He was just sometimes a bit too formal to my liking.
“Good evening, Miss (your last name),” he nodded at me and gave me a slight smile.
“Please,” I said, for like the hundredth time, “Call me (Yn).”
He smiled briefly and said nothing but started the car. You see, that was why I said he was too formal. He tended to call me Miss (your last name) when John and Edward were around. He had just got used to being so formal under their commands.
“So,” Edward asked once the car started moving, “What do you want to do this weekend?”
“I don’t really know,” I had thought of this when I was waiting for their arrival at home, but there were simply too many options that I ended up giving up on trying to plan my weekend, “There’re so many things that I want to do!”
“Well then, we can perhaps decide for tonight first… Elsie has made us dinner, and after that we can go to the mini theater to watch some movies, okay?” John suggested. Oh yeah. They had a private theater at home. I know, crazy.
“Okay…” I smirked, “Mini theater… Oh right.”
They giggled as they knew I was once again trying to wrap my head around the idea that they were extremely rich. I tended to do that a lot and I just got distracted big time when I tried to think about it. It still confused me even after all the time and luxurious activities that we had done together. It drove me insane sometimes, and they found it funny.
“You’ll get used to it,” John draped his arm around my shoulders.
“No way,” I mumbled.
“Yes way,” Edward joined in and threw his arm around me on top of John’s arm, and the drive continued with us chatting.

“That was great,” I sighed after our dinner; Elsie was really a good cook, “Thanks Elsie!” I said as she collected our plates.
“You’re welcome; I’m really glad you enjoyed it,” she smiled warmly at me. She was a warm, lovely and pretty woman in her mid-forties, and she was more talkative and easier to talk to than Jack, and I really liked her. She reminded me of my mum, who I missed constantly. She lived in another city with my dad; I moved out when I graduated from high school and I would only visit occasionally when I had long holidays.
“Let me help you with those,” I stood up and helped Elsie with the plates.
“Oh no dear, just go and have fun! Leave these to me,” Elsie said.
“Yeah,” Edward chimed in, “Elsie can deal with those; let’s go watch a movie!”
“It’s okay,” I said – I needed some time away from the boys; I would be spending the entire weekend with them and I was pretty sure that they would drive me crazy, so I had to grasp every opportunity to take a break. These were rare chances, and it would be nice to chat with Elsie, “I’ll join you two later!”
“But—” Edward began.
“Go on,” I insisted, “I’ll be with you very soon!”
They could see that I was very determine about this, so they did not push me further. I giggled at Edward who was pouting his lips. John sighed and pulled Edward out of the room with him.
They could be really cute sometimes. They were just like any other young boys when their guards were not up. I sighed slightly at the thought of how much they had suffered.
“They seem really different,” Elsie said softly when we were alone cleaning up, “They seem happier.”
I could tell that Elsie saw the boys as her sons. She really cared about them; I could see whenever I came around. They might just see her as an employee but she treated them with love.
“Really?” I said, “I thought they were like this when they were alone, out of the sight of the public.”
“They were mostly quiet before they met you,” Elsie said, scrubbing the plates – we did not use the dishwasher because she knew I wanted to talk with her, so in this way we could gain more time – this was why I loved her; she was really understanding and caring, “They were really unhappy lads. But ever since I heard them mentioning your name, they began to talk more. Before that, even though they did everything together, they did not say much. They just communicated silently. But after they let you in on their secret, it’s like their burden is lessened. They used to be all unhappy and didn’t smile at all, but now they do smile and laugh. You bring the happiness out of them, (Yn). You literally change them. I’m really glad that they have you.”
“You know their secret too?” this thought had never occurred to me.
Elsie nodded, “Poor boys,” and she paused briefly, “I really hope this can continue. You might be able to help them to quit the depression and all those things they do to relieve their unhappiness from their past.”
“I hope so too,” I sighed, and dried the last dish with a towel.
