They did not respond, but kept staring at me. I was getting uncomfortable under their scrutiny, all tied up and helpless.
I looked away, and bit my lip, “You can actually untie me now; I promise I won’t run away,”
“No,” John said sternly, “We won’t untie you unless we’ve finished explaining everything to you… As much as we’re dragging this moment, I guess it’s better to get it straight now…”
I looked back up at them, and Edward shifted so he was now sitting on the table, his long legs dangling from the edge of the table. John grabbed an armchair beside him and sat down on it, facing me.
This was not fair. How come they could look so perfect? It was like they had just posed in another position for a photo shoot. Whilst here I was, being plain me, my hair a mess, my limbs all tied up.
“So how much do you know?” Edward asked softly, studying my face, “What theories do you have in mind?”
“Well,” I was having a hard time finding my voice, and I gulped – what should I say? What did they expect from me?
“I – I don’t really know, but one thing I know for sure is that you are very rich. This is your home, isn’t it? And Jack? Is he your driver?” I finally said.
“Yes,” Edward nodded, “But we aren’t the ones that are rich – our father is. He owns a large company and we don’t have to worry about money. Jack is not just our driver; he is our bodyguard too and he helps take care of a lot of stuff.”
I gasped. Bodyguard? This was so unreal; it was like bodyguards only existed in movies to me. I had never expected someone around me would need a bodyguard.
They ignored my gasp and I calmed down enough to ask, “But – but then why do you have to be teachers? You may as well go around the world and travel and do whatever you want,”
“We’re just having fun,” John answered, “We… We had a complicated childhood and we are trying to get the taste of being a child, a teenager by becoming teachers and spend time around kids.”
“Complicated childhood?” it really did seem like there was much more to them than I thought.
“Yes,”
“Does that explain why you two are so cold and… Violent?” I shuddered at the thought of Ivan being beaten up severely.
“I guess we have to apologize for scaring you first,” Edward said quietly, “We didn’t mean to scare you just then… We were just enraged and worried about you.”
“Why?” they were confusing me. Why would they care when they were being so weird with me, “Why do you care?”
“We’ve never met anyone like you,” John said, “For all we know, in our world, it’s dark and cold… We were abused by the domestic helper as children.
“When we were small, our parents had to hire a domestic helper to take care of us when they were away for business trips, and she constantly abused us. This lasted for around two years as we were so small that we dared not complain to our parents, until one day they returned early and found us being… Well, you wouldn’t want to know about the details – anyway, they knew but it was too late. Our views on the entire world have changed since then.
“Our whole beings have been severely damaged, and, trust me, you won’t really want to get to know us anymore – you’d want to stay away from us… But we can’t let you do that, because we’re too selfish. We want you; we’ve never wanted anyone that badly.”
Whoa. Wait a minute. That was so much to process. They were mentally as well as physically hurt, and they still had not healed completely until now. They were certainly not the people that I thought they were, and they were even darker than I could ever imagine them being.
And they wanted me. THEY WANTED ME.
“We’ve never met someone so bright and nice,” Edward continued the story, not stopping because of my shocked expression, “You don’t gossip and be mean like the others and you have a pure and kind heart, unlike the others. And that just makes us want you.
“Remember how we’re so shifty in the club?” John asked. I nodded. Their shiftiness was the reason why I got wasted that night.
Edward then said, “We were trying to keep away from you, someone as innocent as you, but failed. We just can’t help but want to know more about you. We tried to convince ourselves that after the end of the day, you’re all the same. So we danced with you and stuff, trying to see if you’re truly innocent. We wanted to be sure as we really want you but don’t want to ruin you. We actually wanted you to be the same as the other girls, so we could officially give up on you, as you’re no different.
“But it turned out you really possess a pure heart. You didn’t fall for us right away and act like those girls who we sometimes have fun with; instead you walked away from us when it got too much for you. Our taste doesn’t suit you. At all. But still, we want you. After having confirmed that you’re exactly what we first thought you are, we are just completely hooked.”
“You have no idea how hard it was to walk away from you and not doing anything after putting you to bed that night,” John continued – and the thought of what could have happened if they could not resist gave me goose bumps, “Me and Edward had a long talk after that, and we decided that we really want you, but don’t want to harm you in any way. But we simply can’t stay away anymore. We have to do something about it.
“So we tried to stay close to you while keeping a safe distance between us. But when we saw Ivan… We were sent over the edge,” I could see pain fleeting across their faces. Did I really mean that much to them? What exactly was I to them?
“We look at you as ours,” Edward said, and this simple sentence sent my stomach crazy – he just freaking called me theirs! “And he laid a hand on you, so he got what he deserved. And I don’t think that’s a very nice way to treat a nice lady. We don’t regret our actions towards him.”
Then they fell silent and looked at me expectantly. When I did not say anything, they started to look worried.
“Say something, (Yn),” John said softly.
“I – I just – I don’t know,” that was a bunch of information to process, “What do you mean by I will want to stay away from you? What’s so special about your taste?” they might fool women around and play with them, but that was not entirely horrible that I would want to run for the hills.
“First of all, we never get tied down in a relationship. And we never do anything separately even when it comes to girls. We share,” John said carefully. But… What? They shared? That was… Hot. Not so bad, actually, even though it was so wrong.
“And we don’t do romance and love,” Edward added slowly, “We are all about excitement and darkness. We like our girl like that—” he gestured to my tied down situation, “—and we like to use all kinds of stuff on her. For instance… Whips. And we want you.”
Bam. This hit a nerve and I just stared back into their green eyes, chills running down my spine.
They were really much more dangerous than I thought they were. I felt like passing out. My head was spinning.
Then everything went black.
