- Jasmine -
Toby wasn't lying about an awesome place across town, I didn't even know this place existed until tonight. After our meal we walked outside along the waters edge for about an hour.
"We should probably be heading back, you have class tomorrow morning don't you?" He asked.
"Sadly yes." I said as we walked back toward his car. "I had fun tonight."
"That was what I was hoping for." he replied opening the passenger door for me.
"I'm just hoping we can get you to stay out of you know where."
"You can say Juvie it doesn't bother me." we were driving back toward campus now.
"Well it might not bother you but it bothers me." I said pouting.
"You know I didn't do anything wrong, so don't let it bother you."
"Still does." I mumbled.
It wasn't a long drive and before I knew it we were pulling into a parking spot in the college carpark.
The campus was dark all through the courtyard. Once again he opened the door for me and helped me out, taking my hand he led me into the darkness. I heard a stock crack as if someone had stepped on it. I stopped and looked around, "What was that?" I asked Toby.
"Just keep walking." he muttered.
We walked under a single street lamp that was turned on in the courtyard. Everything was dark around us.
"I'll do whatever it takes to get rid of you." a voice that was all too familiar said from the blackness.
I heard the unmistakable sound of a gun loading. I instantly started panic and my hands started to shake. Toby stepped in front of me protectively as Wes stepped out of the darkness. A hand gun in his right hand.
"Wes you don't have to do this." Toby said his voice steady.
"You don't understand Toby, I don't have a choice." Wes answers his hands shaking.
"You always have a choice." Toby insisted.
"Just do it!" Someone whose voice I didn't recognise, shouted from the shadows.
"Toby," I said quietly, "I'm scared."
"Don't be Jasmine everything's going to be alright." Toby replies his voice becoming unsteady.
Wes wasted no more time and pulled the trigger. I screamed in horror and screwed my eyes shut.
"Oh my god!" I heard Toby say and I forced my eyes to open. Wes was gone and Corey was on the ground in front of Toby and I.
"Corey!" I screamed and I was on my knees beside him pulling his head into my lap.
"Corey, man can you hear me?" Toby was saying kneeling next to me.
"Call 911." I said to Toby, "Corey stay with me."
Corey didn't say anything he just stared into my eyes. "No I need an ambulance at the college someone's been shot, and he's losing a lot of blood. You need to hurry!" Toby spoke furiously into the phone.
"Toby give me something to stop the blood." I asked frantically. Toby threw his jacket the the ground and pulled off his shirt handing it to me. I placed it over where the blood was coming from barely touching him, but Corey still winced.
"HELP!" I screamed, "Somebody help me!"
Lights came on in the dorm towers and shadows crowded the windows. People were a trying to crowd around us.
"Move!" I heard Dylan's voice as he shoved past all the onlookers.
"Jasmine?!" He said confusion and panic all over his features. "What happened?"
The ambulance was pulling up and the paramedics were loading Corey onto a stretcher and into the ambulance.
"Is anyone coming." one of the paramedic's asked frantically.
"I'm coming." Dylan climbed in the back and the ambulance was gone.
The crowd dispersed leaving only our group. Jake and Kirsty, Zoe and Indiana and Daniel.
Toby pulled his jacket over his bare chest, it wasn't exactly a warm night. I had Corey's blood all over my hands and my dress.
"We have to get to the hospital." Zoe said, "But we can't all fit I one car."
"We can take mine and Toby's." I offered.
Jake drove my car to the hospital because he thought I was in no condition to drive, he was probably right. My hands were still shaking and still covered in blood.
I raced straight up to the receptionist the moment we walked into the lobby.
"I need to see Corey Anderson." I said almost out of breath.
"I'm sorry he is currently unavailable." she replied not looking up from her computer.
"Well is he alright?" I demanded.
"That information is confidential." The woman said sourly.
"So what am I supposed to think? That he... that he... died?" I stuttered at the thought.
"This conversation is over." the woman returned to her computer which was my cue to go and wait.
I hated waiting and this was going to be the longest wait of my life.
