Jisung POV
———
Knock
Knock
Knock
It feels like my heart stops in an instance. Chills running down my spine, not from the cold but from the horrific sounds from the outside.
Another knock is heard. Should I open, should I not?
The knocks become louder and louder every time. Seconds pass by making it feel like hours. Until I decide to maybe just peak through the small hole on the front door.
I get up, silently walking towards the front door, which is hard since all the electricity has stopped working.
I gulp before slowly making my way towards the door. Anxiety filling my system as my hands start shaking once again, an annoying habit of mine.
The door is close, not knowing what to expect.
Knock
Knock
Knock
I look through the little hole, no one being there.
Very slowly, and then I mean very slowly and cautious, I open up the door. You never know, maybe someone who needs help is searching for a shelter to hide from the storm, or maybe someone has no way to go home and is out there in the dark somehow.
With my hands both shaking, I open up the door. But nothing and no one is able to be seen in the pitch black surrounding. Another lightning strike pulls over. Lightning up the almost freezing cold summer air.
I stare into the darkness for a couple seconds.
Tap
Tap
Tap
A sound coming closer.
Very slowly, a dark silhouette appears. Able to be seen with the soft lighted lamp outside which allows me to look not more than a couple inches ahead. The only lamp that still seems to work.
My eyes widen.
Tap
Tap
Tap
The sound keeps coming closer and closer and I inch back inside, trying to close the door before the silhouette reaches the door. But the wind resists. I lean my entire body weight against the hard wooden door.
Tap
Tap
Tap
The silhouette is not more than a meter away now. Panic builds up inside me. A big chaotic panic.
Loud footsteps keep coming closer and closer. Just able to be heard over the sound of the rain.
A hand reaches for the door.
And a voice reaches my ear.
"Ah excuse me are you the grandson of mrs Han."
A kinda sweet voice reaches my ear, letting me stop my actions. "Excuse me what?" I state.
At that moment the lights inside flicker back on. The storm has settled down.
Then I realize how damn stupid I am.
In front of me a boy that can't be older than a year of sixteen silently fiddles with his hands, looking down awkwardly. He has dark, big fox like eyes and a pair of braces that appear the moment he talks or smiles.
I sigh. Holy shit this kid scared the shit out of me.
"Are you the boy staying at my grandma's house?" I question.
He simply nods. Not really giving answer. He must be shy, I think.
I sigh and lead the soaked boy inside. "Come in." I persuade.
He nods once again, smiling slightly at my comment. Still looking down at his feet.
"Thank you hyung."
"Jisung- ah Jeongin, good to see you boy. Jisung get a towel for the poor boy will ya." My grandma smiles softly. A slight motive of worry found in her eyes.
I nod, walking back upstairs to go find a towel.
Why would someone be out at night at this time? If he lives here then why doesn't he have a pair of Keys?
I shrug off the creepy thoughts, trying to occupy myself with the new mysterious ones of the boy called Jeongin who I apparently live with for now.
"Incoming call, Lixie🌻🐥💛, Minnie🐶🌭."
My phone buzzes is my pocket. I look up, I don't have time for that right now.
"Decline."
After my phone stops buzzing, I turn it onto silent mode, knowing that Felix will keep persisting to call this particular evening. Only one way to not answer, act as if you are busy and don't look at your phone. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
I stumble back downstairs. A beige towel folded neatly in my hands.
And apparently someone didn't close the door since it has swung open once again. Weird, I thought I heard it close.
I kick the door closed with my foot since my hands are both occupied. Creating a loud echoing sound around the door.
I walk into the living room. My grandma and Jeongin sitting at the diner table, a small orange cat which I haven't seen before, seated on Jeongin's lap.
"So who are you?" I ask to the new boy. Putting down the table on a chair next to the boy.
"My name is Jeongin." He answers, a bright smile taking over his face.
He looks up from the cat, his eyes meeting mine for the first time.
And then,
A purple flash of light, lightning up the dull light inside the room. Just for the two of them to be seen.
One question forming in both their heads. 'What is that creature.'
