6. New opportunities

Congratulations Estella", my mom said while hugging me.

" Thanks, mom, love you".

" Well we have kept a party tonight to celebrate your achievement", my dad.

'A party, that means everyone will come and of course, Sam must be coming too... anyways but I hope he would not repeat his foolishness, and I desire Kelly to not be there at the party', I whispered.

"Is it so dad, who have you invited?", I asked with a slight smile.

"Everyone sweetheart, all your friends and that new friend Kelly also", my mom said.

Argh, Kelly is coming too, by the way, why am I blaming her, she's a nice girl. I enjoy her company, but all mistakes are made by Sam. If he hadn't done all this enjoying with Kelly and ignoring me then maybe I'd have talked to Kelly and made friends with her. Whatever I don't care.

It was almost 7 when David and Daisy entered.

"Hey Estella congrats", they said in unison.

"Thanks a lot, guys", I said with a slight smile.

I was wondering if Sam to be there with them. But of course, why would he be with them when he has a lot of new friends to chill with?

"Hey where is Sam", I said

"He shall be coming with Kelly and other friends, he told me that he had some work with them", Daisy replied.

"Is there any problem Es", David said in a serious tone.

"No, not at all, I was just asking when will he come".

Suddenly the doorbell rang and Jerome opened the door. My all friends had come along with Sam and Kelly. Sometimes I just want to kill Sam he should be here with me rather than being with Kelly. He's my bestie. He should be the first to wish me and be with me here.

"Welcome guys", Gerome said while giving the way in.

"Okay then everyone has arrived, you people talk until I prepare for dinner", my mom shouted from the kitchen.

I saw Sam with Kelly and Emily, Daniel and Amelda were there too. I took them with me except for Sam.

"Es, Sam is looking to try to manage this time", Amelda whispered into my ear. I rolled my eyes, "let me handle Amel, I'll tell you everything afterward".

"Estella wouldn't you take me with you people", Sam said.

"I don't feel it to be important to take you with me, Samuel....", I said while pronouncing his name carefully.

We all had dinner as we all sat around a round table. Sam and Daniel were talking to Kelly ignoring me. And the worst thing was that Amelda and Emily were talking to her too because she was a new student and had a pleasant voice. I felt so lonely, a tear escaped my eye...I hate the moment when my anger turns into tears. I got up and dragged Sam out of his chair.

"Sam it's all done", I said angrily.

We usually use to say this thing to each other when we are angry with each other...and it's all done meant to leave everything there for some time and talk nicely with each other like nothing has happened. Even if we didn't want to we have to do it.

"Okay Es tell me what you want to do", Sam said with a smile on his face.

"Come with me", I said while pulling him towards the garden.

"Congratulations on your achievement", he said.

"Thanks, when are your football finals".

"They are going to be next week, but I'm not participating, I have some work to do. By the way, do you know about the music competition that's going to happen next week in school".

What could be that important work that Sam is even leaving his football finals...football is his love...I clearly remember when we were 15 and Sam had his football match. It was his father's birthday but he managed to play the match first and then to the party. I hope that has not had anything to do with Kelly.

"No what are you talking about?".

"Hey don't you know, there is going to be a competition in our school and do you know the first two winners would be given a chance to sing for an album in the USA".

"That's amazing".

"Yes and how about you also participate? Give it a try what say?".

"Why should I? I have nothing to do with music".

"I was just saying that you should participate. Extracurriculars are also important other than academics. And you know what, Kelly is also participating".

I was not wondering if Sam to drag Kelly in between since I had asked for a break. Well, he doesn't know that it bothers me and why is he suddenly asking me to participate in the singing competition?

"Okay Sam bye, your parents are waiting".

I went inside and moved upstairs to my room. I was thinking about the singing competition that was going to organize. Should I also participate, but I always get shy in front of an audience.... I have to participate, I can't let that Kelly win.
