WHEN THE END BECAME HER ONSET...

7. Is this how you say a proper goodbye?

Finally, today was the competition and I quickly changed into a cute pastel pink dress that ended up on my knees. I left my hair open and let it look natural. I quickly ate breakfast and left. I was stuck in a traffic jam. I didn't want to be late today. It was not my dream to participate in the such event but because of many reasons, I have to. I have to prove myself to everyone who thinks less of me. Finally, I reached the auditorium. Thank god I was not that late.

"Estella come on fast, competition is going to start", Amelda shouted from backstage.

"Hey, I was stuck in a traffic jam".

"Okay, are you ready for the competition"?

"Yeah I'm but I'm a little nervous".

"It's okay Es, you will nail it".

We were waiting for my name to come. Anchor called Kelly onto the stage...she gave a brilliant performance. No doubt she has a perfect voice. Now anchor called my name and Amelda wished me luck. I went on the stage and sang the song with all of the energy left in me. When I completed my song I was shocked to see everyone clapping for me. Lights fall on me. And everyone was hooting and cheering for me, it seemed like the dream I had a few days ago.

"Estellaaaaa, you nailed it", Amelda said while giving me a tight hug.

"So guys, results will be out after lunch", an announcement was made.

I went with Amelda to have lunch and Emily and Daniel soon joined us. Suddenly Kelly came and sat down with us.

"Hey guys, can I join you people?", Kelly said with a smile.

"Yes why not, by the way, you were amazing today", I said while smiling at her. I never talked to Kelly nicely, most probably. But today I was very happy so I just behaved nicely.

"Thanks, you also did fabulous...by the way what do you think about the results", Kelly said with curiosity.

"Yes, I'm also curious to know the results, hope it's fair and satisfied".

Soon an announcement was made, "students gather around the results are out". We walked towards the hall and held hands together.

"So guys want to know who is the winner, so stay tuned because today is going to be something strange", the anchor said.

We all were very curious to know what strange was going to happen. We were just discussing when the anchor said, "okay guys let me break the suspense, we have two winners today". What, two winners...that means I can be one of them...I have a chance.

"So put your hands together. The winners are.......Estella and Kelly".

What did I win....yuuuusssssss...I did it. I did it. I was thinking of defeating Kelly but I'm happy that I also won and I was now no longer angry with Kelly, we were going to sing together now. We were so happy and celebrated together. Finally, Kelly and I were friends now.

We sang together and danced a lot. All the chief guests were proud of us. They also rewarded us with statues of two persons who were holding mics in their hands. They looked pretty. They also gave us free tickets to the USA for the album. We also had lunch together. After lunch, Emily and Daniel brought a huge cake with them. We did the cake ceremony and enjoyed our day. But Samuel was missing the whole time.

After the enjoyment was over, I walked towards the exit when I was stopped by Samuel, " Congrats Es u were gorgeous today".

A part of me wanted to hug him and celebrate because I was really happy. But I didn't say anything except thanks and moved on.

Finally, Kelly and I got a chance to sing for an album in the USA. Kelly was very happy as her dream had come true. But somewhere I also felt proud of myself and wanted to sing for the album. It was like this event was going to change my life.

Kelly and I decided to leave tomorrow as the event is after 2 days so we need to leave a day earlier so that we can make ourselves comfortable there. The accommodation was given by the music company only so that made our journey easier. We packed our clothes and some important stuff that we needed and of course some money. I went to bed early and woke up as early as possible.

"Good morning Es, did you sleep well?", my mom said while opening the curtain of the window in my room.

"Good morning mom, why did you wake up this early? I could have managed myself".

"No problem sweetie you are first time going far away from me alone so I need to make sure you are ready".

"Oh mom, I'm going to miss you. Wait let me call Kelly and ask her if she is ready".

"yes, sweetheart take your time. I'm waiting downstairs"

I called Kelly and told her that I was ready to leave and I told her to meet me at the airport. I quickly ate my lunch and said goodbye to my parents and Jerome. It was 7:30 am when I reached the airport.

"Estella, here I am", Kelly called my name while waving her hand.

The flight was at 8 am so we had to wait for half an hour.

Samuel's pov:

I was doing my football practice when I realized that today Es had to leave for the US. She didn't even call me before she left, and so didn't I. I think I should call her, "Hello, Estella?".

"What do you want? Won't you let me enjoy my day?".

"I just called ta say a proper goodbye to you".

" you realized it too early. Is this how you say a proper goodbye?".

"Okay, as u wish", I said and disconnected the call.

I genuinely wanted to wish her luck but she doesn't want to talk. I better leave her alone. Somewhere I felt bad and was a little angry with her. I kicked the football in front of me very hard. Let her return then I'll talk to her.

Estella's pov:

We boarded the airplane when I received a call from, Samuel. He called to wish me luck but I talked very rudely to him. Inside I felt very bad but I had to do this to make him realize his mistake. I was very happy on my journey but a call from Sam kind of ruined my day.

The flight was comfortable and quiet the whole time. Kelly was listening to music while I kept thinking about Sam the whole time. I feel guilty for not even saying goodbye to him. we reached the airport at noon. Some people were already waiting to receive us at the airport. Then we headed towards our temporary residence. It was a room owned by the music company in New York, which was given to us for some days.

"Kelly, I'm starving can we go and eat something?". I said.

"Of course, I'm hungry too let go and get ourselves something to eat. After then we will take a rest today and tomorrow we will go and explore this beautiful place what say?"

"yes, great idea. Let's leave".
