I wake up before the sun is up and after an hour of failing to fall back to my nightmares, I quit pretending and head to the training grounds.

If I wanted to join the ranks of those going to war then I had to learn how to use my new abilities and I had to attend the Academy to be able to qualify as a shinobi of the Leaf.

I agreed and start school first next week. I get dressed and jump out the window to avoid going through the whole house to get to the front door.

I make my way to the training grounds and make three shadow clones to assist me in my training. I've learned my limit is thirty yards in all directions. And I've gotten a few ideas on how I can use the chakra spheres.

I've been trying to minimize the radius of exposure to a single object. But it seems harder to shrink my reach than it is to expand it.

I stay out there till the sun comes up and my hunger awakens. I get back as grandmother begins cooking.

"Good morning Yekio, did you sleep well last night," I nod and say I slept. After breakfast, I returned to training, but this time I was working on Fuinjutsu. I want to be able to wear seals on my body. Holding supplies would be so much easier that way.

The week goes by quickly and before I know it the first of the week is here and my grandparents are taking me to the Acadamy.

"Try and make some new friends Yekio. You might enjoy yourself at school," he says after a bit and I nod going quiet again.

I rather pretend I don't exist. I follow the instructor who greets my grandparents at the gate and take me off their hands. He leads the way around the Academy to show me the places I might need to visit at some point during my time there.

We reach a class room and the Academy Head knocks on the door and the teacher begins quieting the class.

"Students if you'll settle down I'd like to introduce to you all a new student. This is Yekio Uzumaki she will be with our class from here on," I walk in and face a class full of eight-year-olds.

I bow and introduce myself to them. They've known each other their whole lives, I'm a strang foreigner, whats the chance they'll give me the time of day. Its probably for the best I'm just here so i can get to the battle field. I make my way to the seat Sensei Izuko assigned me and zone in and out on substitute jutsus.

The morning breezes by and the next thing I know we are being released for lunch.

"Hey Yekio," a girl with light pink hair and green eyes pulls me from my daydream, "I'm Etsuko Inoskie. I greet her and she breaks into a smile before pointing to her desk as says she sits at the top by the door. I nod and say she gets to be out of the sun.

"My friends and I eat on the roof. Would you mind joining us?" she smiles softly at me, so I agree.

"Hey everyone I invited Yekio," a group of three girls and two boys circle a blue blanket behind the rooftop staircase back wall. All the shade and a nice breeze.

They all introduce themselves to me and I greet them before doing the same.

"So Yekio where are you from? You're from out of the Leaf right?" Estsuko questions as she hands me a shrimp dumpling her mom made for her to share with her friends.

"I'm originally from the Uzushiogakure but after it was attacked I was brought here. The Leaf are -" I freeze, I slowly unlock my jaw and respond "were our allies. They just arrived to late to be of any help," I respond.

"Is that why you joined the Acadamy? You want to go to war?" Eiji Inuzuka asks as he feeds a rice ball to the puppy hiding in his sweater pockets.

"That is my goal," I reply smoothly.

"So we're you given a place to stay? Or are you staying with the other Uzumaki who lives here?" Another girl asks and I say neither I'm staying with my grandparents.

"Oh, are you have family here?" Akio asks me and I nod before clarifying.

"My mom is from the Leaf Village, she left for Uzushiogakure after she married. Rarely came home after that," I smile sadly.

"Oh what clan was your mom from?" Aiko questions first.

"My mother was a Uchiha," I add and their eyes go wide.

"Really? You're a Uchiha?" Kigo asks and I nod.

"Yes, I am," I state plainly.

"Well, it's good you still have family. No one should be alone in this world," Etsuko speaks up and I agree.

We eat lunch, exchanging food amongst each other, I listen to the chat after that.

The second part of the day goes by quickly as well. Already knowing how to create a clone helps me not need to pay attention. I zone back in when the class is released for the day.

After waving goodbye to the girls that I ate lunch with, I rush over to my grandfather.

"Your grandma couldn't leave the kitchen without the food paying the price," I smile at his words and we walk home with me telling him how my day went.
