34: Death of a Friend

I wake up in a cold sweat as the bad feeling only worsens. The chakra I'm feeling isn't a dream conjured up by the nightmare of a beast going rampage. I rush outside as the Nine Tails Chakra rolls over me. "Kushina."

I look up to the sky in the direction of the Leaf. "Something's wrong?" I hear my father call me so I turn back to look at him.

"I have to go. Somethings wrong I have to go." I rush back inside and change.

I run back out and I see Kakashi standing in the front yard, "Kakashi something is wrong." He nods as I walk up to him.

"I'm sorry Yuki-" I approach him puzzled.

"Why-" his fist slams into my stomach knocking the air out of my lungs and robbing me of my consciousness.

I wake up on the sofa and the dread was still there, "what happened?" I look at a stone cold Kakashi.

"What happened?!" I grab his shoulders and force him to look at me.

"Late last night Kushina-sama went into Labor. The seal on the Nine Tails broke and the Nine Tails went on a rampage. A part of the Leaf was destroyed."

"No." I look at him as his words sink in, "and her? And Minato?" I ask even though deep down inside I already knew, there chakra signatures were non-existent.

"I'm sorry Yuki, they're both dead. Their son Menma didn't survive either," I look at him.

"No!" I fall to the floor.

"I should of stayed. It was late I should have stayed." I slam my fist against the floor. "Damn it!"

"Yuki!" I wake up and I notice Kakashi above me.

"Where am I?" I sit up and I realize I'm outside.

I rub my temples trying to soothe the headache.

"I flickered us outside so you wouldn't destroy your house." I look at my hands.

"They're really gone," I look at Kakashi and he nods.

I get up and walk back to my dad's house. I teleport to my room to change and head to the Leaf Village.

I walk into the Leaf and I stare at the broken buildings. "It's happening all over again."

I run to the Hokages' office, "what happen?" Lord Third looks at me, "Yuki, sit down."

"Can't you just tell me what happened?" I ask desperate to get out of the room, he'll never fill again, if I can't stand this place, I have a feeling I'll hate their house.

"Minato and Kushina died protecting the Leaf from the Nine Tails." He stares straight at me as he tells me the truth.

I stop, "it's never going to stop is it?" I can feel his eyes on me.

"I'm sorry Yuki they're gone. I can take you to them." His words tear me from my agony.

I look at him, "where are they?"

He leads me to the hospital and down to the morgue.

"I'll give you a minute."
