Nothing is natural

The mind of man is a most wonderful thing for scientific study and research in the West.
In India,the yogis,sadhus and sanyasis are day and night busy leaving no stone unturned to get rid of the mind which is the chief source of suffering in this world.
Freedom from the mind alone promises eternal bliss and true living.Most people may wonder:"How can one get freedom from the mind?" It sounds very strange but it is not impossible.The mind can  be conquered.

The old people in the colony never accepted my views and opinions but the youths like Mr.Sattar's son Imtiaz and Raghuram's son Pranay were my best buddies. They were intensely curious to hear what I thought and said about different issues concerning life.

Once Imtiaz said to me,"Uncle how come you say such things...?"

"Which things? "

"Things you say...Things that are genuine facts and unchallengeable truths... ?"

I said to the young man,"I was born a fool of very humble parents.Always loved to stay home from school. Teachers and students made a game of me.I had never imagined that I would be an educated person.It is all due to the grace  and compassion of the Divine Mother Kali.I was her devotee in my previous births. "

Pranay said,"Do you have any interesting experience of late...?"

"Pranay, experiences are occurring  every day and every night...But I would like to keep them secret from others....It is good to do so while trying to attain higher and higher experiences which open your eyes to misconceptions..."

"Misconceptions like?....."

"Like your father's misconception that idol worship is wrong and the bad habit must be renounced.."I said.

The boy said,"Does God live in idols?"

"Yes that is the very reason why we Hindus worship idols..!"

"Are there thirty three crore Gods in reality?"he asked.

"Yes there are billions and billions of deities in the universe..."

"Has God created them all?"

"Why must God create them?All living beings you see including you,Pranay,me are all ourselves Gods...."

"No I can't believe that......" said Imtiaz.

I said to him,"We are all Gods. We can neither be created nor be destroyed.No one can destroy God. Why? We can neither find His beginning nor His end because He has none.Anything having its beginning and end can alone be capable of being destroyed..
Billions and billions of spirits are there everywhere.Think of the tribes of the world living in the remotest forests of the world.Each tribe has its deities. Each of those deities has some supernatural power.The tribals offer them blood,meat and wine and they happily accept them and in return give them protection and good harvests.You can offer meat and fish to Mother Kali but not to Shrikrishna and Lord Jagannath. The Gods have their own attributes and propensities. You see God is immeasurable energy and power and He is at work every moment.Otherwise,the sun would not be there and the planets would not be moving round him.God is action and you know every action has its reaction.God's  presence in us is indicated by our breathing. What we call breath is truly the living God..."

"Who has given attributes and propensities to the different types of Gods..." asked Pranay.

"They themselves have given them those attributes and propensities.." I said to him.
"A God is a self-sufficient being and so are we all self-sufficient beings. We have the power to create and destroy things.More correctly speaking,things get created and destroyed all by themselves...but the hidden unity amongst us all as one integrated whole remains."

"A psychologist can never accept the fact that the conquest of the mind is something absolutely possible.Fear,anger,greed,lust, and even hunger can be conquered.This proves that since they were created,they can be destroyed.Give a baby only milk and fruits and keep doing so till he grows up into a man. He will not relish the food we eat.When in Kalahandi,we would offer rice and curries to the tribals. They would eat the rice and leave the curries....!They couldn't bear the smell of the curries. A stronger example can the way we learn driving. When we are learning to drive a  car we have to remember the clutch,the brake,the accelerator etc but having mastered driving we forget them completely  which means the conscious becomes the unconscious. When we see something strange,we utter an exclamation unconsciously.Those of us who studied in Odia schools in childhood,started to speak English consciously. Now we have to consult the Odia dictionary to find out Odia equivalents of English words.This happens while writing something in Odia. We have become incredibly fluent in English than Odia. The conscious language structure or language system has become perfectly unconscious through uncountable nonstop repetitions.I have a student who can raise her eyebrows in such a manner that I become speechless seeing it.Those who do yoga and pranayama and change their bodily functions to a most amazing extent.They don't need any outside help to do this.A few days ago I saw a video of some martial arts experts and was puzzled to see men standing upside down on their index fingers!Their fingers are so strong that they can make deep holes in tree trunks with those fingers...!We must imitate these wonderful people to excel in self-discovery  and spirituality."

I sometimes think of people whom the world salutes for their materialistic achievements.I also think of the villains in the world of religion and politics.It is incorrect to say that all men and women must be spiritualists but it is reasonable to think that everyone on earth should search for their true identities.They are not mere flesh and blood, a bundle of desires but divine entities who are capable of unlimited possibilities. Desires are no doubt very strong;instincts do appear to be indomitable,but we do have the boundless potential and power to make them behave the way we like them to. Nothing is impossible.

"Any recent experiences?" asked Imtiaz.

I said,"When I was meditating last night,all of a sudden there emerged in my mind a very strange bearded face.This had been happening for quite some nights.I wanted to know who it was.After completing meditation,I tried to sleep but the desire to know the truth was irresistible.Is it Acharya Rajnish?I didn't like Rajnish's approach to human sexuality. As I searched the internet,I came to know that Rajnish was against the enormous military expenditures of the nations of the world.He wanted international borders to disappear and the peoples of the world should live as one people.I was vastly pleased because I had been thinking of the useless military expenditures in the world.The huge amounts  of money wasted on arms and ammunitions could be used to feed the hunger-bitten multitudes of the world.Maybe Rajnish emerged in my mind to inspire me to create awareness about universal brotherhood and harmony.How interesting it would be if the nations of the world sank their differences,got united to combat disease,poverty,illiteracy and cruel social practices and discriminations based on caste,colour,creed and gender!Rajnish might have his shortcomings,but that he cared to remind me of my concerns matching his was an absolutely amazing experience to treasure.Honestly speaking,I had no knowledge of Rajnish's life philosophy.But his approach to sexuality if followed would definitely lead to utter chaos and disorder.
