Raghuram's Inquisitiveness

Sattar and Raghuram,in spite of their shocking differences, had maintained their ties and friendliness.I was no more following them to listen to their stories based on bizarre fanaticism and blind beliefs.I had not stopped wondering about their indifference to logic and reason. Both had expressed their disappointment over my 'strange rationales.' Even they had indirectly told me that God was going to publish me on the Judgement Day of  Sattar's and Raghuram's time of Pralaya when Lord Shiva would destroy all excepting the virtuous and the humble.

I would sometimes pretend to Raghuram to be curious about the way to emancipation from the worldly bondage. He would happily parade his profound religious learning and advise me to be devoid of the ego which according to him was fatal and self-destructive.Sattar was in full concurrence with his Hindu friend in this matter.

I was drinking tea on a cold morning at a roadside stall.I discovered that Raghuram was sitting behind me and going through a newspaper. When I greeted him,he smiled but not skeptically. He appeared to be bland and genial that morning.

"I don't see enough of you these days..Have you been anywhere lately?"

"No Sir..where shall I go leaving my students? My occupation is a millstone round my neck.."

I wanted to tell him that a government job in my State was all a money, money and money thing. I knew how basely corrupt he was-----he who was now day and night preoccupied with God and religion chanting mantras and reading the holy Geeta. The typical corrupt government servants straining every nerve to get over their sense of guilt and remorse. His house was like a royal palace.

Raghuram liked to remind me that my occupational status was not spectacular enough and attracted little notice from the affluent city people.

As we were returning,he said to me:"How come many of my highly intelligent batch mates didn't get government jobs? The Lord was very kind to me.From a mere clerk to the under secretary of the state finance department...!"

He clearly wanted to pinch me. Ignoring him,I said,"Sir,you are very much right...Your daughter is a first class postgraduate in physics but she couldn't get a good government job,nor could she marry a government servant..But Laxman Sahu's daughter became an OAS officer. Why?God was not kind to your daughter? "

He fell silent after I had returned the pinch. I decided to make him accept the truth which he loved to disprove harping on the usual lie that 'Man is God's slave.' I had been trying my best to convince him that he was not a slave or banda of  God as the Mohammedans believed but he himself was God.Then he would ask:"Why are sadhus and yogis not as powerful as God?"

Today too he wanted to raise the same issue.
I said to him,"You are a devotee of Sai. Do you know Sai once told his devotees that he had not exercised even 1% of his spiritual strength?Lord Krishna and Lord Rama must have been looked upon as mere human beings.Did they possess spiritual strength or not?"

He looked interested. I switched over to the topic on hand. I said,"You see...had your Sri Hari
sent you or me into this world,he would have conditioned you or me in such a way that we or all of us mankind would have become perfect in each and every way.Why must a perfect God send imperfect human beings and other hapless creatures into this world?"

I swallowed and resumed:"So man is the
real culprit. He comes into the world and degrades himself every way possible. He then becomes a storehouse of guilt and remorse and thus writes his own fate and paves the path for rebirth and suffering. As he comes here of his own accord,he alone has the key to his own emancipation. At this juncture,God and yogis and sadhus if appealed to come to your rescue.?A gang of men are on a journey and if one of them falls down and breaks a limb, will the others go away leaving him behind? "

Remember Raghuram is no more.?I am relating something long past hence.

I was happy when he said,"I believe in your explanations. But is praying to God bad?"

"Yes that turns people into most dangerous fanatics.Their blind devotion to an illusory God who lives high up in heaven leads to violence, murder and senseless killings...
Don't pray to God. Search and discover God.That is the best thing for a lover of God to do.."

After that, whenever we met,we discussed spirituality and transcendental issues.I realised the power of Truth. I felt if every sensible man or woman can be made to see it( Truth )after which 99% percent of the religion-based crimes can be checked. It is a fatal and monumental blunder if man begins to have faith in "One God." If you strongly believe that there is One God,you turn  into his blind adherents and don't hesitate to cut the throats of innocent people who raise questions about your God.As you blindly believe in your own  God,you live in a state of dualism and can never see Truth. In fact,we don't see Truth;rather we become transformed into Truth and stop calling others wicked and stupid.
